A very long story cut short, I was told by my dealer last week that the oil on my car was changed, but I have strong doubts. Unfortunately, I have previously discovered that they have lied in the past by being alone with the mechanic and asking a couple of innocent questions. This oil change was related to engine lifter noise, and they said they would change it as a first attempt to resolve the noise, and later said that now it is quieter after the oil was changed.
However today I checked my Oil Quality indicator and it was at 64%, not having been reset. I'm posting here because I was hoping there was a way to check the filter or something as the OEM filter from the factory should still be on the car if I'm right. The oil itself still looks relatively golden (and did before the "change"). Car has 2000 miles on it.
Any suggestions on how to check would be great. The dealer being dodgy is another matter, no need for discussing it here.
I got mine changes, I watched them do it and they forgot to reset the oil life thingy so I did, I had my first oil change at about 1k miles I will get my second one in October before I park it for the winter, it should have 3k on it by then.
My 14 R/T had no special notation it was factory installed. I took it off myself at 600 miles and it was just the standard 899 black filter. Same filter used on all V8s, SRT and Hellcat included.
How dark is it? At 2000 miles, I'd think there'd be a noticeable darkening compared to brand new oil. If you checked the oil on the dipstick before driving it much and it looked like new oil, they probably did change it. If it was not clear light amber, they probably didn't change it.
Strangely, when I changed the oil at 1800 mi it was darker than I thought it should be. Now 700 miles on the new oil, and it still looks golden amber. So I'm thinking that maybe it took a few miles to seat the rings fully. Until that happens, blowby could be higher making the oil darker.
I managed to use a telescopic torch and mirror looking from in front of the RHF wheel this morning. The filter is just black with fine print of "0615 17" only on the end and nothing else. Maybe the did change it, maybe not, I'll never know.
I worked in manufacturing for many years and my guess would be that that was the date of manufacture (June 2015, and 17 may be the actual day or a lot number).
Since your car was built prior to June, it was likely changed.
After the initial 2000 miles, your oil should've been dirty.
If it looks clean, they changed it.
Now for the big question, did they use full synthetic ?????
Ya, they r the exact same size. At least on mobile. No biggy. Just giving u a hard time. Not sure why they r so small. All pis u post come up like this.
Hmm very weird. When I click the link and go to photobucket I see the full version when on my phone. iPhone 6:
How I see the thumbnail on the forum:
How I see the image on photobucket:
What phones are you using? are the photos at least not the width of the phone? are you guys using the "Enhanced View" mobile thing on Challenger Talk (I'm not).
I'm using the android app. That's probably the difference. I get an option to view in a gallery or follow the link but the picture never seems to load when I do that. So in the gallery this is what I see.
If you click "View In Gallery" it will show you the same file but really small:
If you follow the link to the full version, you will go to Photobucket and be able to see the full version:
I think the better option would probably not use the app at all as seems to be pretty bad!! :surprise:
The reason these photos are appearing large is because I'm inserting the direct full size image into the thread, but I shouldn't do that normally as the photos are generally high quality and very large (1.7mb):
Yup its the same but when I follow to pb nothing ever loads up. It just circles. I agree the app is lacking but easy to use. So much krisp beauty in that last one and it's not little! Do what u do man I won't complain anymore.
