General Challenger DiscussionThis section contains general discussion about the Dodge Challenger. If it does not fit into a more specific area, it probably belongs in here. (Dodge Challenger General Discussion)
if I switch from the 6 speed to the auto so says my wife. That was the argument when I bought my R/T Classic. She thought the SRT had too much power, so I compromised and got a R/T Classic but told her it had to be a stick. She agreed, but after a few months, I regretted not getting the SRT and acted. I only bought my current SRT because it was one of the last 2010s left when I was looking (originally wanted B5), and it happened to be a 6 speed again. My wife really loved the Challenger 392 at the track experience, but it was an auto. She wants to be able to drive the next one and cannot drive my car right now. I tried teaching her, but she hated it and had problems. I do find I drive the car harder too due to it being a stick. I do not beat on it by any means, but those with a stick know what I'm saying. I guess that's the nature of having a V-8 mated to a 6 speed. I am not completely against the auto as I've driven a few. I just think the stick is more fun and would be more desirable down the line. However, the 392 coupled with the better suspension and return of Hemi Orange makes me seriously think of doing it... I guess I am a little torn. I ideally want to buy the last year and keep it long term. Whether it is 2013 or 2014, that is what I'd be looking at. She does not like PCP surprisingly, so it would most likely be H/O or Sublime. Thoughts?

Sounds like a perfect case for his and hers matching challengers

I agree!
Seriously though...this car deserves the 6 speed and unless there is a medical reason she can't drive one, then it's high time she learned! Nothing hotter than a woman shifting gears in a modern muscle car!
New to this forum and new to the challenger. I picked up a 2013 SRT8 6 Speed two weeks ago and love it! Prior to purchasing the car I had spent way too much time on the web searching the drawbacks and benefits of each, and had decided to get the auto. At the dealership I drove an auto first and then a manual. At the end of the day I ended up with a black w/red racing stripes SRT8 manual. I had always told myself that I would not own a black or manual car again but that thing was so much fun to drive that I couldn’t resist. But it’s all about you and your wife being happy, so do what makes HER happy.
I have an M6. It is extremely fun to drive. The only thing that sucks is city driving. Are you planning on doing any major mods? I understand the M6 transmission is rated to handle higher HP?

One of the things on the wish list for me and my wife was it had to have a stick.
She said having that type of car with an automatic would be like having an automatic in her Jeep Wrangler. It's just wrong.
Automatics just get boring. The car is suppose to be fun and to have fun with. If this is the only way you can get into a 392..... keep your 2010. You'll regret it. You already do as your posting it here.
If you weren't torn over it.... this thread would've read...... "Look at My New 392!!"
