Absolutely. I'm sure that's what he was doing. Like I said, my radar detector didn't go off so I don't think he had a clue how fast we were all going. He kept saying I was going 72, and I kept saying "there's no way I was going 72". At no point in time did I say how fast I was going, I just denied going 72.

That's why my husband got mad at me. He said I was being argumentative and would get a ticket - where as if I just apologized for speeding he would just give me a warning. I said I refuse to apologize when he's accusing me of going 10 faster than I was!

Thada girl!

You gotta be careful what you say as more times than not people become their own worst witness.

Good to go on the warning. Local officers typically give warnings unless you're just doing something totally outrageous, but our State Troopers forget it. The Troopers are usually jerks to top it all off.

Apologizing for speeding would be an admission of speeding. The best thing is to just be quiet.

You're absolutely correct drummerchick! They try to get you to admit to what they themselves are not sure of. It's a game of psychology they are trained in.
This is a good read, and do watch the video if nothing else. This information will save your bacon someday maybe.

Just the opposite here in Oregon Speedy...the locals are nasty and are only after the money, the state troopers are true professionals that actually think on a logical level. Nice guys as well most the time.

My brother is a State Patrol sergeant in WI and he said their minimum speeding ticket is $208 now because of all the financial woes. All I know is if that guy pulls you over, you were speeding and you ARE going to get a ticket. BTW, he has never lost in court, even against ticket fixer lawyers. Bottom line, save your argument for the courtroom because the judge can reduce or throw out the charge but you have to be repentant. Most cops react badly to a lot of lip. Only once have i received a warning and that was in OH.

That is lame to pull someone over for 62 in a 55. Around here they usually let 10-15 mph over before they stop you.

On the Jersey 500 (I-78 in N.J.) cars usually do 80+ in a 65 zone during rush hour.

Years ago I had a Miss. Trooper ping me at 72 in a 55 in my Conquest. My detector went off but I could not hit the binders because a bozo in an old pickup was less than a car length or so behind me. The trooper did a U and pulled alongside the truck, which was still right on my azz, waved him back, pulled between us and pulled me over. I guess doing 70 was more dangerous than the idiot riding on my bumper so he can cheat off my detector.

That is still my most infuriating stop.

Texas it is pretty safe at 7 over the posted limit. anything more and your taking your chances. 20 over and the Police have the option of throwing you in jail and impounding your car. Oh, you will be paying the towing and storage fees before you even get to the fines and tickets.

Yeah I'm in the Dallas, Ft. Worth area, I drive full time for a Pharmacy in their Hyundai Elentras(averaging 150-250 miles a day). I cruise by cops all the time doing 10mph over, never any trouble even when there's no other cars around. Seems to me it's about money usually, the fine for 10mph over is the same as 1mph over, they don't care unless they get more money. So yeah the thread starters stop sounds like total BS, thats why he only did a warning.

Only once did I get pulled over for doing under 10mph and it was on a back road. I got off with a warning as I lied and said I was taking a stat to a Hospice patient.

Oh, once I ninja'd my way out of a ticket. It was at night, I had just gotten on this road and didn't know the posted limit, just as I saw a sign that said 45, I looked down to see I was doing 60, and that moment a cop coming from the other directions turns his lights on right as he passes me, I scream a long *explative deleted* as I see him turning around, then the idea came as I did it... shifted to nutral, I turned the car totally off, forgetting you lose all power steering when you do that lol, and quickly as I could jerked it into a pitch black parking! I sat there a good 5 minutes before I got back on the road lol. Would love to have seen the cops reacting to my dissapearing act!
