He gave you a warning so be glad because he probably belived that you didn't realize that you were speeding and gave you the benefit of the doubt. If he was wrong and you were not speeding , argue your case in court, that's what it's there for. Anyway as a fellow challenger owner, I'm glad for you that you didn't get the ticket.
I suppose you are right. I was just mad that he was trying to bait me, as I'm 100% positive I was not going that fast. I don't like being lied to and it just set me off. Though part of me thinks had I not been so insistent about not going that fast, he would have assumed I *was* going that fast and given me a ticket.

I've been on a couple of car forums prior to this one but this is the first one I've been on where people complain so fervently about not getting written a ticket.

I got pulled over for my first time a few weeks ago. It was for no front plate. I knew it was not for speeding as I saw the cop in front of me and my detector had not gone off. I thought it was for not signaling as I kinda cut someone off (kinda on purpose ) cause they had just pulled out from a red light in front of me and caused me to slow and have to change lanes. So I think that little show caught his attention. Of course it is always the reactor that gets punished and not the person who caused the reaction.

After explaining to him that there is no place for the front plate, he agreed and said I should contact my dealer or look to the aftermarket for a bracket and sent me on my way with a verbal warning.

I came upon a registration/seat belt checkpoint in the middle of a pretty big road on my way back from work, two police cars with cones and a stop sign set up and two cops in the road. I have no front plate (which is no good in NYS) and I was sure I was done for (this was the first time a cop was gonna have me stopped in the street, I have yet to be pulled over). I roll up and stop expecting to have the guy wave me to the side...but no...he tells me to go ahead and as a started to drive off he says "ahhhNICE!". I said thanks as I was crackin up. I don't even think he noticed the plate.

Was that stop in California? Prolly not. We have a cool thing here called "Enforcement Tollerance." I call it the "7 Over Rule." I have never been pulled over for going up to 7 over even in the SRT8. In fact, I passed an unmarked while cruise was set at 77 just north of Bakersfield on the 99 and made eye contact with the driver no problem.

You got a warning? That's prolly why I never see cute chicks in speeder's school - the good lookin' ones only get warnings. I've never had a speed warning in my life, but then again I've never been stopped for going less than 40 over....

Back in the day, I drove a Hemi Orange '72 Charger Ralley, it was like driving with a bullseye on my back. I learned to watch for the police carefully, and to watch my speed. The few times I did end up talking with them, I was able to get away with only a verbal warning. But I do consider driving any sporty car to be a draw for law enforcement attention.

If I am not 100% sure you are the one speeding...I will not pull you over.....just my rule. But some unfortunately still pull people over when they are not really sure which one was speeding. If ur pulling away from the pack or solo and of course I have you on radar...then you're bought and paid for.

Fixed for you.

Also, it's a feather in the LEO's cap to stop a fast car (or motorcycle).

My Dad was a LEO for 34 years, so I know how big the Egos get. The officers that give warnings are usually the ones doing real police work. They're stopping cars to check for illegal activity outside of speeding. They're looking for drugs and stuff like that. My buddy works Metro and does this all the time, never writes a single ticket because they don't "have" to based on some quota.

The traffic LEOs are just out there to generate revenue for the city/municipality and claim to be doing so based on safety.

It's a huge racket really.
