Unhappy Initial 2009 SRT Production

From looking at the Challenger Registry, it seems that only 20% of the SRT orders have moved from BX to C or D status. I heard a rumor that the the SRTs will be produced in limited numbers at first because of the emphasis on the R/T and SE models. As a result, most of the SRT orders will not move beyond the BG or BX stage until September or October.

Do you think that there is any truth to this?

Re: Initial 2009 SRT Production

I can see Dodge constricting or delaying '09 SRT8 production untill all the '08's are bought up AND delivered. Once that happens, the lead time for '09's might be reduced.

They're just playing it smart, if they're playing that game at all...

Re: Initial 2009 SRT Production

My understanding is that all '08s are sold, either to individuals or dealers (another post had an article that said approx. 25% or orders went to dealers). I don't think Chrysler really cares if the greedy dealers sell their inventory. Also, it has been reported, via Bob Frederick, that '09 RTs and SRTs will begin production in August after the break. SE production is supposedly not going to start until September. My dealer, a supporting vendor, said he had the allocation and that Chrysler would likely pick up my order after the break. If that happens I'm probably looking at Sept.-Oct. production.

I could see some truth to that, but not completely. The SE's are supposed to be built last, and the SRT's were basically 1 for every few R/T's built. So until some R/T's start moving into C or D status, there may not be many more SRT's make that move.
