Dear Mr. President,

We see that your hinting of an "Assault Rifle" ban has created a boon in the firearms industry that resulted in three (3) years worth of sales in less than a weeks time.

We would also like you to please consider a ban of "Assault Houses". These houses are not as easy to pigeon hole as those menacing looking black military style weapons. Some of these houses are equipped with automatic sprinkler systems, automatic dishwashers, automatic thermostats, and automatic lighting. "Assault Houses" are generally prohibited from sporting the menacing, dark exterior because of HOA (Home Owners Association) rules and local laws.

To support our belief that you need to consider such a ban, there were over 120,000 deaths resulting from "Assault House" incidents and falls in 2009 (cdc.gov). We beg you to stop the madness and consider banning these evil "Assault Houses".

Thank You,
National Associaton of Realtors

smoking (467,000 deaths annually),
high blood pressure (395,000)
obesity (216,000)
physical inactivity (191,000)
high dietary salt (102,000)

We should ban all that too while we're at it. This is the modern America. Two kids get in a fight, Sue the parents! Someone picks up or uses an object for a crime, BAN IT! Someone plays a shooter video game, they must be a murderer! Lets just ignore the person that committed the crime. Pathetic.

Those with manual transmissions can rest easy now. I got to the bottom of this. The concern is only for fully automatic transmissions.
^^ that's pretty funny right there!

Just think about how many children we could save by banning pools!

The dirty little secret of those public safety debates is that pretty much everything in our world is potentially dangerous, but what gets regulated/banned is what can easily be made unpopular (scapegoated) or whatever industry doesn't have the resources to buy politicians (via lobbyists). So when people climb on their soapbox to state self-righteously that we should take care of this or that problem, I don't hear points, I see agendas from a mile away. Case in point: doctors up in arms (pun intended) for gun control and harassing patients about gun ownership, when medical malpractice quietly kills upwards of 200,000 patients a year (malpractice = negligence or omission). We're not outlawing doctors anytime soon, though, so we go after targets (more pun intended) easier to demonize. We never abandoned witch hunts; we just conduct them on a national scale now. And the more the enemy can be objectified (firearms, cars, alcohol), the better when you refuse at all costs to look into personal responsibility. To place the blame for your actions outside of yourself is called projecting, and it's a transparent defense mechanism used by little kids and... well, I'll leave it at that.

That's funny. Besides color I think that stripes are the car equivalent of extended mags and bayonet attachments on guns, the red rag waved in front of the greenies and antis, if you will... I try to keep my guns and cars low-profile because of that, but given how many tickets I was getting anyway I said "screw it" and got the black car I wanted deep down.
