Re: Just drove an SRT manual prototype

Yea, that 18mpg figure is even after i swapped the heads and cam. My mileage was actually a slight bit better before adding those mods.

Re: Just drove an SRT manual prototype

Thats also good news for me. My V-6 ranger barely gets 15 MPG. If the SRT can match or beat that, im set!

Re: Just drove an SRT manual prototype

yep, you can definately beat your ranger. Im guessing with 6spd and a decent amount of highway crusing, you mileage should go up a few points

Re: Just drove an SRT manual prototype

yea i was shocked when i got my car on how good the mileage was. I was expecting 13-15. I usually get pretty spirited with my car coming home from work at 2am. I hit well over 120 from time to time on the open interstates lol.

Re: Just drove an SRT manual prototype

I bet the auto helps a bit. I might actually get better mileage in the Challenger than my mustang. I tend to rev out the gears just a bit.....

Re: Just drove an SRT manual prototype

I do mostly in town driving. I usually stay off the interstate since it's filled with lots of trucks carrying rocks/dirt due to some serious construction going on. Random questoin for ya, When your in manual mode on the auto stick, how do you go back to auto mode?

Re: Just drove an SRT manual prototype

2 ways that I know of... If you are going fast enough (say ~50) keep bumping it up and it will toggle between "5" and "D".. The other thing is to bump it into Neutral and then
back into Drive..

All the AutoStick woes will be solved when the Mopar Accessory T-handle shifter comes out for the Challenger which should also fit in on the Charger/Magnum/300.

It has full quadrant access and is up/down as opposed to left/right.

I hope the T-handle shifter comes with some reccommended shift map reprogramming because I wonder if one can control the shifter on these like the old days with manual control on the shifters. It just seems that the ones that I drove had software controling the trans per my shifts. I want to be able to lock down in 2nd or 1st and feel a chirp. Likewise, I want to hear 1-2 upshift chirps when I slam the shifter into 2nd. The T-handle should help as I don't know if I can get used to slamming left to right, I might get carpal tunnel syndrome from flexing certain muscles in my wrists when I throw the car into a corner after a rapid downshift session.
