Hi guys. Didn't see a newbie intro place so I'm posting here. Anyway I'm a Mopar nut that has strayed. Back in 2005 I had a SRT-4 or a Mustang GT to choose from when I was buying a new car and I picked the Mustang. It had that nice muscle car feel and the SRT-4 had an import feel I didn't care for.

Since then the Challenger has been announced and I'm wondering about trading when it finally hits the streets. But I'm hearing some nasty rumors about weight and no manual tranny. That's kinda concerning me. I saw it at the Chicago auto show and it looked great (so did the Super Bee) but I dunno. My Mustang is a manual, light, quick and with endless modding options. Maybe I should just restore my old Plymouth.

Re: Just joined

Hello and welcome! I dont think you'll have to worry about there not being a manual transmission option. Its pretty loud and clear that most people that want this car want the 6 speed. Plus, I have heard the new LY chassis will support 3 different tranny options.

Re: Just joined

Nice to see I wasn't the only one lured in by the Mustang GT.

My Plymouth is a bit of a dilema. It's not an original 340 car, it was a 318 before I got it. So I'm a little cramped by the fact that it will never be worth the amount of money it would take to restore it. I almost want to find an original 340 car that needs an engine, but it was my first car and I would hate to get rid of it. I currently don't have room to work on it anyway so it's in storage.

Welcome Boglin, and I say wait for the new challenger coming out(eventually ),..as she is one mean, very cool lookin' retro muscle car, that I haven't seen from dcx since 1970! So I say too you, welcome aboard, and forget about restoring the old plymouth,..it will be way too expensive and time consuming, plus the new stuff coming out,...is way better! Now if it was a 1970 hemi cuda,...I would have said differently!!

Re: Just joined

A Mopar nut strayed to the Mustang dark-side? Oh-no. Now they have to build the Challenger to bring you back into the fold!

If they release this car without a manual transmission, it will be a serious misstep. They caught enough heat about not putting a 5 or 6-speed in the Charger. Admittedly, the Charger is technically their "family" vehicle. So, it sorta makes sense.

This car has performance written all over it. You can't have this kind of vehicle without giving people a stick option. As for weight - who knows. Not like old-skool muscle cars were petite.
