Just ordered my 2008 Challenger today

Just got back from the local dealer and ordered a new 2008 Challenger. They do not have brochures yet but I will able to pick the color and options in a few months. Anyone else out there put their money down on one of the first cars to ship out?

2003 Dodge Dakota V8 4X4 (wifes truck)
2002 Subaru WRX (my winter beater)
1965 Buick Skylark Convertible (Summer Cruzer)
2008 Dodge Challenger (Pink slip stealer)

Not me. I won't be in the market for one til 2010. My wife is home with our 2 boys, so my check is feedin' 4 mouths. I need a few years to save. Please keep us posted on your progress. I know I can speak for all of us here, we are excited for you.

How much did you have to put down? Will you be paying MSRP?

$1000.00 down to hold my car. I get #3 they receive. They are letting me order the color and options I want. Promised MSRP. I've purchased 4 cars from them in the past so it is nice to have a good customer - dealer relationship. All I know right now is it is the RT8, 6.1 Hemi (425hp) 6 speed manual. I'm hoping I can get it fully loaded with options. Should be a sweet ride. I'll keep everyone posted on the progress.

your the second person i have heard of via the web,that says [thier ]dealership is takeing orders on the new challenger.My local dodge sales rep tells me i am #1 on the order list[WHEN]dodge starts takeing orders,but as of this time there is no reason to give them any money.how are you guys getting to place an early order?

I have had my spot for a while now. The Gen Mgr of the dlr is my neighbor so that helped. I put a refundable deposit down and was first in line. When the allocation spots open I will be called and am to come down to the dlr to pick my color, options etc.. Hopefully there will be a box on the sheet that says

I talked with the salesman at the dealer. The 6.1 Hemi is the only engine being offered right now. As of right today, all the other engine versions talked about will not be offered in 2008 (but they can still change their mind). Also, the 6 speed manaul is the only gear box being offered right now. The Auto has been set asside until a later year (but they can still change their mind).
I do not think you will have to many options to choose from. Most of the cars will be built fully loaded. This is common to all brands that build limitted edition cars. All being said, It will be the nicest replica car ever built by an original manufacturer so far. Nobody else has come this close to the original body contour then the 2008 Dodge Challenger.
