I do not think you will have to many options to choose from. Most of the cars will be built fulled loaded. This is common to all brands that build limitted edition cars. All being said, It will be the nicest replica car ever built by an original manufacturer so far. Nobody else has come this close to the original body contour then the 2008 Dodge Challenger.
did they happen to mention to you what MSRP would be? Also, did they say the other engine would be available in later years?

The LAST person you want to rely on for Challenger information would be a dealer salesperson. Don't believe a word he says, sounds like he is already feeding you a bunch of BS.

It is going to be a LOT longer than a few more months before you will be able to choose colors and options. At the earliest it will be more than a YEAR from now.

The best any one can do now is get on a dealership waiting list (in writing). They don't have a MSRP to quote or anything else, and sure as hell ain't supposed to be taking money yet ( I tried to get them to ). They will notify me as soon as they can take my money...that'll be soon enough neway.

"In writing" will not "guarantee" that you are going to get your vehicle, nor will putting a deposit down. The most important thing that one can do is find a trusted dealer, preferably one who you have had prior experience with who plays it straight.

When the 300C SRT8 first came out there were tons of complaints on message boards about dealers who had sold promised models out from under them. Many of the people had deposits and written promises but that didn't matter. When cars finally arrived some dealers were selling them to other customers who were offering or willing to pay more $$. They then told the original customer that the vehicle was still on order or came up with a host of other excuses.

I am not sure how the allocation is going to work for the Challenger. If it is anything like the SRT8 models have been then dealers for the most part will have no idea if and when they will be getting vehicles or how many they will be getting. They will tell customers all kinds of stories about production holdups, production quantities and so on.

Your BEST source for accurate production and other type of information on the Challeneger will most likely end up being from trusted "insiders" on various message boards, as it has been with so many models in the past. Your WORST source of information, unfortunately, will be from the dealer/sales staff as most will just tell you what you want to hear or make up stories along the way.

Firm pricing will most likely not be announced until the last minute, slightly before or even after production starts. Hopefully Dodge will launch the Challenger with sufficient quantities to satisfy a reasonable percentage of the initial demand and not launch with as tight of a supply as they have with other vehicles like the SRT8's.

When launched the Challenger is going to be the hottest vehicle on the planet, one can only imagine what some dealers are going to be "asking" for them. The sky is going to be the limit.

While I have no doubt the car will be sold out for an extended period during the first and even second years I wonder what will happen once the hard core "collectors" and nostalgia boomers get their fill. The car will be sold until it is no longer profitable which means probably in the later years it will be available to anyone who can pay MSRP. And of course thats when the real trick options and engines will be available. I think those who drag their feet on their purchase will end up the real winners here (unless they're willing to do the trade up treadmill).

Re: Just ordered my 2008 Challenger today

I think you guys are wrong. From the reports I have seen the market for two door muscle sport cars is only so BIG. The mustang cobra GT500 shelby is still selling for close to 70 grand but do you realize how many muscle cars are going to be out when the challenger hits the market. The new camaro, gto, mustang (redesign), plus a limited shelby GT spec mustang, and boss mustang. Like the old days Dodge coming late to the game will probably hurt sells.
They will have order lists and limit production but once those are filled and every eager beaver has bought his/her car then watch as the inventory fills and dealers have to take discounts. No you will not have discounts at first but I would be willing to bet that the amount of time it takes for dealer discounts to kick in is less than the retro mustang (which was like 18 months) when it was redesigned a few years back.....

Not me. I stated that the demand will be extremely heavy when launched. As with all similar "in demand" vehicles the euphoria will slowly ease over the course of the model year as orders are filled.
