Just ordered my 2008 Challenger today

I really liked the '05 Mustangs when they came out, and wanted to buy one. But they were bringing over sticker and were hard to get, especially the GT 5-speed like I wanted. So I waited until '06 when the demand had eased up and was able to buy it for $500 over invoice. If they try to hose me on the Challenger, I'll wait. As noted, DCX will probably release some good stuff later on to keep sales humming.

Just out of curiosity, I logged onto the www.dodge.com web site to search for local dealers. After I got their web addresses, I searched their inventories for 2007 SRT Dodge Chargers.

I wanted to see how many were on the lots and how they were optioned. (Note: Most web sites actually show the window sticker of each car).

The typical dealer in New Jersey had one and it was loaded with all three Option groups to inflate the dealer's profit. The average MSRP that I saw was $45,000. Based on this, I think that the 2008 Challengers will come fully loaded and you should expect to pay up to $50,000 or more depending on how much the dealer wants to make on the sale.

When the 2008s come out, I will still talk to my dealer, but I may decide to wait until 2009 for many reasons.

I would bet the starting price for a new 08 challenger would average out in the same range as the R.T and daytona chargers price range ..plus add in 2 years of inflation ...say 28-38k im hopeing the mass production of the 6.1 will drop the price.These gona be a lot of unhappy people out there if the price goes much over 40k

I do not think you will have to many options to choose from. Most of the cars will be built fully loaded. This is common to all brands that build limitted edition cars. All being said, It will be the nicest replica car ever built by an original manufacturer so far. Nobody else has come this close to the original body contour then the 2008 Dodge Challenger.

If a dealer tells you something right now, you can pretty much count on it to be false, or a continuation of all the rumors we've already heard. my dealer hasn't heard a thing about anything. they're a 'five star' high volume dealer and the manager is a good buddy of mine.

Cuda340, The Challenger shouldn't be anywhere NEAR $50k for an R/T... the MSRP should be around $30k.

of course your correct here, I figure having it on their letterhead gives me a leg up over those that don't possibly. All underhanded bartering shenanigans(sp) will be in force full tilt once the cars start to show up.

My local dealer put me on a list today as a potential buyer, they will call me when they start taking orders for the challenger. I will be puting down $500 at that time....of course if there is a big markup over MSRP then I will wait for a good price.

I said it before and I still think the challenger is gonna be low production like the srt vehicles and the prowler. Historically thats what D/C has done. Why should the challenger be any different. So what if it's made on the LX/LY platform. That does'nt mean there gonna make a million of them,even if they can! When first released, the challenger is gonna be 10/12K over MSRP maybe 15 over. For the first 2 yrs expect to pay 50 K.... Mark my words...

just called one of my local dealerships. he explained to me that DC has not allowed them to open a waiting list. the best they have is a "waiting to order" list, on which they are placing the names of people who are interested to call when the dealership can start taking orders.
