General DiscussionThis section contains general discussion about the new Dodge Challenger concept. If it does not fit into a more specific area, it probably belongs in here. (Dodge Challenger General Discussion)
I had to order my Daytona to get it "stripped". Every other Daytona the dealer had was maxed out. I will do the same with the Challenger, even if it takes a while longer to get it.

Funny but True (or, a word to the wise when test driving the 2008 Challenger)
The following comment was posted on the Carpages.ca website in its review of the Magnum SRT8:
"Actually, here's a tip from a guy that's been there... when out on the test drive with your wife at your side and enthusiastic sales person in back, only feather the throttle slightly at takeoff. If you do, just touching it with the sole of your shoe, acceleration will be smooth and sedate, just the kind of experience your other half will appreciate. If, on the other hand, you get carried away with the 6.1-litre HEMI's 425-horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque, you'll never own this vehicle. You'll forever slap yourself silly with, "Why did I... what was I thinking... if only I'd have..." and the likes, before sliding behind the wheel of your less functional front-wheel drive, V6-powered family sedan, or whatever your disappointed state of clouded depression leads you to purchase.
And if you just can't trust yourself, remember that forgiveness is easier to get than permission. 'Hey honey, look what I bought!' Yes, it's a foreboding thought, but she might just appreciate your good sense in purchasing a station wagon after laying tire tracks across what's left of your lifeless carcass. But believe me, it'll be worth it...But remember, drive respectfully or, if you can't do that, go on your own."
I want my Challenger sooooooo stripped that doors are an option!!
Good luck if you can do it. I think that buyers of the 2008 model will have to take what the dealers order- this means fully loaded models. If the dealers order the Challenges like the Charger SRTs (to maximize profits), they will come with Options I, II, & III as well as a sunroof). This will drive the MSRP price up to $45,000. Any chance to order an SRT without these options will come in 2009 after the demand dies down, somewhat.
For the record, Options I, II, & III are as follows:
SRT Option Group AY1- $675
Includes automatic air conditioning with dual zone climate control, air filtering, automatic headlamps, heated front seats and 1-touch up and down front power windows.
SRT Option Group AY2- $845
Includes 11 Kicker SRT high performance audio speakers, 200-watt Kicker SRT subwoofer, 276-watt Kicker SRT amplifier, AM/FM stereo, cassette player, 6-disc CD player with MP3 playback capability and security alarm.REQUIRES AY3.
SRT Option Group AY3- $2,550
Includes AM/FM stereo, 6-disc CD player, full map GPS navigation system, auto-dimming interior rearview mirror, Sirius satellite radio, 1 year service provided by Sirius and UConnect hands-free communication.
Personally, I'd love to get mine "fully loaded" with those three packages. Why not? The only thing I'd try to avoid is the sunroof... which is strange for me because I love it on my Grand Cherokee, but for some reason it just doesn't seem right on the Challenger.

I'm just trying to imagine what Kowalski would have done, how much more fun and how much quicker he could/would have arrived in S.F.; had 'Kowalski' had these options !! !?! !!!!
Kowalksi is a no-option kind of guy. Options add weight, more weight equals less speed.
Wirewilly, you need to make nice with your dealer. He can order the cars any way he wants, but the chances of him ordering a stripped one for stock are slim to none. So you need to talk him into letting him order yours the way you want it. I will order mine stripped. That way, there's more money for the supercharger fund

To get an idea of which 5-Star Dodge dealers will be getting the 2008 Challenger, click on Dodge's dealer search website to see which ones have the 2007 Charger SRTs on their lots:
My dealer took three orders (so they say).
I'm number 1 (again, so they say) with $50 down.
The other guys put $5,000 down (suckers, heh).
I'll be going back in a month or so to get everything in writing since I've also been promised MSRP (sales guy even said better than MSRP by a few hundred, but I'm 100% sure they will "forget" about that part).
