General DiscussionThis section contains general discussion about the new Dodge Challenger concept. If it does not fit into a more specific area, it probably belongs in here. (Dodge Challenger General Discussion)
For those in Cali, it is against the law for the dealer to take a deposit on a vehicle that is not in their inventory. Or in simple terms if they make you leave a deposit to place and order that is against Cali laws and can be verified through the DMV. When and if you place an order be sure that your order has a VON# on it, that is generated the minute the order is placed. If the dealer says other wise find another dealer.
I went into my local Dodge house today. They put my name on the "Challenger List". Salesman said it wouldn't hit the showroom til mid-08. He said he is buyin' the first one they get.

Welcome Coach ! Mid Summer of '08 ??????? I suppose the salesman will get a real good deal ? ?
Tell me, What date the Dodge Challenger 2008 will exit.
Thank !
Michel
Welcome Michel ! By 'exit' ; I'm presuming you mean from the factory/factories ? Well , @ this time, being too early,is obviously just a guesstimate. The more you read many of the threads and posts here @ Challengertalk.com..the more you'll understand and get more of a feel for what's involved with evolving the 2006 Challenger Concept into a production model to the exit perimeter of the factory. A whole lot of manual and cognitive labor is involved ; so I would estimate the very earliest would be the Autumnal Equinox ~ 2007: but closer to reality would be after New Years Day 2008 ...maybe even Spring of '008 !!!!!!!
One thing that I've learned since getting the GTO and watching people get the Chargers SRT-8 is that people who had to have them early no matter what and got in over there head were willing to get out from under at large losses after the first year. So maybe it's a bit harsh but I'll let someone else pay the extra markup and put down a large deposit in year one for me to take it off their hand cheap in year two.

I thing everybody is selling SRT-8 chargers below MSRP, some even at or near invoice. be patient with the Challenger, it will be like all the rest. the first six months, the dealers will rob you. Then you will be able to get them at MSRP. By year two, you will be able to get them at invoice.

I just checked the website of carmax.com. They are selling two SRT Chargers for $975 under invoice for $38,299 (MSRP is $42,220). With a $1,500 factory incentive, you can get one for $36,799. The only problem is that the Dodge dealer is in Los Angles, CA.
I'm hoping in year two, you can get the same deal on an SRT Challenger!
