Re: L3it3R's SEMA 2006 coverage thread.

Glad they showed us under the hood. Sweet!

And... I'm not drag racer, so I could be mistaken... was that an automatic in that thing? I guess with that many ponies under the hood, it gets a little less important. But that kind of threw me.

Oh man that is awesome. I love it! I hope the production version comes with a solid or at least be able to accept one without a fuss.

Re: L3it3R's SEMA 2006 coverage thread.

Am I the only one to notice teh sudden inclusion of a B-Pillar? This does not bode well. If they are relying on a B-Pillar for structural support than they may not produce a convertible. If they're smart they'll do it like they did the original e-body and design the body as a convertible. (didya know that the hemi e-bodies were convertible bodies with tops welded on later. Now if they incorperate a solid ladder chassis in the unibody then they shouldn't have a problem with making a convertible and they can get rid of the nasty b-pillar that messes up the line of the car. Also, that quarter glass had better roll down like to original.

Re: L3it3R's SEMA 2006 coverage thread.

My Dad just got back from Vegas , him and a good friend went on Saturday, my dad said he saw the Orange Concept Challenger but didnt see the SS of all things. Said they took pics but his friend has em so will prolly see em sometime via email in the next week or so. Was the SS there for the whole show? Dads opinion having seen it in person is that is so like the original and much better and they didnt dummy it up like ford and chevy with did with there retros or attempted remakes. I know one is on my shopping list and now i think he has one on his too. He also spotted a 68 Barracuda S/S Convertible 440 cu. We own a 67 convertible had a small block suggested to him we put a Hemi in it when finish restoring it (grin). My conversation with him was pretty short because I stopped to see him on my way into work. I will be definitly finding out more.

It would definitely suck if the quarter glass didn't roll down. All though, my assumption is that they would make sure it does if a convertible is at all in the planning (which I would imagine it is... *fingers crossed*).

A lot of people have noticed and mentioned the B-Pillar. I don't know if anyone has heard anything official about whether or not that was S/S specific or if that will make it into the final production version.

I'm not car designer or engineer by any means, but with it being a 2-door and with such a large/wide rear pillar going down to the trunk, I would think that the car would have enough structural rigidity. Plus, a little extra frame work could help with that. I guess is all comes down to manufacturing abilities and little details...

...it would be awesome without the B-pillar though. Just something you don't see any more.
