Latest Challenger info from Allpar.com

Chrysler announced that the Dodge Challenger will be produced as a coupe, to arrive in dealerships in 2008 (as a 2008 model year car). According to Chrysler and the Wall Street Journal , the 300 cost $1 billion to develop, and each additional variant (e.g. Charger) cost about $330 million. All four vehicles will be built on the same line in Brampton, Ontario. (Thanks, Bob Marks.)
According to several sources, Chrysler is trying to decide on which strategy to follow: a high-price, low-volume run, or a high-volume, lower-price run. Also in flux is the question of engines - restricting to just the Hemi, or allowing both the Hemi and at least one V6. However, a manual transmission will be available along with an automatic, each having five speeds; an SRT-8 version will have the 6.1 Hemi while the stock Challenger will have the 5.7 Hemi (no, they will not have the new crate Hemi, nor did we expect them to). At this point we believe there will be a first-year run of about 50,000 Hemi equipped Challengers, possibly with automatics, followed by a smaller run of Hemi Challenger SRT-8 cars with manual transmissions.
Thank you to all our past and present sources for keeping this page surprisingly accurate - at least as far as we know!

Hola, y buenas tardes mi amigo !!! [ ' hi,and good afternoon my friend ! ] I think it's just too early to know if the Dodge challenger will be available in Mexico. Apparently you can't get the Charger down there ? Heck, it's too bad you can't find a 60's -70's original Dodge Muscle car that hasn't had any engine work ; i.e. hardened valve seats etc. which allows for the use of unleaded fuel ...since you can still get Leaded fuel down there...even though that is bad for your breathing/ air pollution !!

I hope they go for the high-volume, lower-price strategy. Get these cars on the road and price them so that people with average incomes can afford to put one in their garage. The idea of making the Challenger a high priced, exclusive luxo-coupe goes against everything muscle cars are about. Let folks that want 1000w stereos, GPS, or butt-warmer seats order them that way. Just let me be able to order a Challenger thats lean, mean, and realistically financeable.

I'd love to see a Hemi Challenger come in around 30K, but I'm betting DCX is gonna go the "exclusive" route and gouge us.

I'm with you. I've got a bad feeling about the way this whole thing is going to go down.

Hey Ragamuffin thanks for your reply..... here in MExico is really difficult to get muscle cars of any kind, recently lots of Mustangs 2005/06 have been sold in Mexico so I may think that by strategy Dodge may send a few of their production run to Mexico... I Want my BLACK CHALLENGER

All I know is, I want at least a 6.4l 500+ hp hemi in the top srt-8 version of the challenger to compete with the 500 hp competition! I would like to see at least low to mid 12 second car straight from factory unmodified. I'll modify it beyond that!
