Re: Latest from Allpar.com

Some of the Charger SRT-8s are already in or close to the 12 second mark with an auto, so the 6.4l shouldn't be far off mid 12's depending on the driver...

Either way they're going to need at least a 6.4l 500+ hp to get lower 12's to compete with competition, especially if its 4000 lbs! High 12's low 13's from factory won't cut it in the top srt-8 model anymore. I say save the 6.1 for the family sedans(300,charger,magnum),...But in the challenger srt-8 model,.....make that boy bad,...REAL BAD!!

Real Bad, ,with what like that 7.0 ? Isn't there a 7.2 ? hey, and other night I saw Chip Foose Overhauling a Nomad ,and put one of those Chevy 572 cu engines in there ! ! Mopar has several crate engines but it states " that buyer must sign agreement it'll be used ONLY FOR OFF-ROAD USE" ! Just what are the limits for legal street usage.. .for either hp or cubic " or liters ?

Re: Latest from Allpar.com

I'm not sure where allpar gets its info. from, but the DCX rep I talked to at Carlisle said No V6 in the first year. 5.7 & 6.1 only. And it sounded to me like it was 6-speed manual ONLY.

Re: Latest from Allpar.com

Am I the only one who remembers all the hoopla about the dodge charger on Allpar.com......first they said it would have this type of engine and that type of price, it will not have certain things and more garbage.

I am gonna just sit back and wait on Mopar to "Let'em Hang" just like they did back in the 60's.

I doubt the 5.7l will have a gas guzzler tax but the 6.1l Auto definately will like the current SRT8.

The same thing happened to the GTO, the 6 speed standard didn't but the auto did.

The Mustang GT500 has 500hp and did 12.9 in the 1/4 mile for Car and Driver and it weighs 3900 pds. They say that it is comparative to the Charger SRT8 but it rained the night before and would probably be a bit faster if they tested both of them on the same day.

This brings up an interesting point. Either the Hemi 6.1l is under rated or the Mustang GT500 is over rated.

As dyno testing has proven on the SRT8 variants, the rwhp of the srt8 has been over well over 425hp when taking in driveline loss.
