This brings up an interesting point. Either the Hemi 6.1l is under rated or the Mustang GT500 is over rated.

As dyno testing has proven on the SRT8 variants, the rwhp of the srt8 has been over well over 425hp when taking in driveline loss.

Nice Try!! But Here's the real facts!! First off alot of this soo called magazine drivers don't even now how to run these cars to there full potential,as most don't even know how too shift a manual!! In Car & Drivers case(and some others) spun the crap out of the tires coming out of the hole(Big Mistake of loss time!)and they don't even power-shift the manual!! Here's a Real Driver and his comments in MM&FF..........MM&FF did a low 12's run in the New Shelby GT 500
MM&FF and Even Smith ran a best time of 12.25 @ 117.18 stock in the new 2007 Shelby Gt500! He ran 03/04 Cobra times 12.67 @ 110. "I can feel this an 11-sec car with just gears" and "one should go 10's in the quarter-mile with minimal bolt-ons" was Evans comments. That 12.25@117 was with a 2.11 short time ladies and gents. Others have cut 1.85 60's so far. Being that every tenth loped off the 60' typically equates to ~.15+ in the 1/4, well, you do the math. This car will be extra quick!!

So the charger(use that term loosely) srt-8 with the 6.1 with higher 12's to low 13's! Down Goes Frazier!!!Like I said,I've been racing for over 25 years,...the Hemi challenger WILL NEED AT LEAST the 6.4l(500+ hp) motor to compete and try and keep up with the Shelby,...trust me!! If they(dcx) don't,...they will be awfully surprised at the stoplight!!!

Re: Latest Challenger info from Allpar.com

I heard that dodge has to seriously detune the hemi line in order to pass emmissions with them. The engine s have the capability doing just about anything u want them to like the bad old days of engine building. But with the ecu/computer set up for the engines to pass emissions as well as the exhaust systems that seriously detunes the hemi's and probably most other modern engines. So with the computer codes fairly closely guarded by the manufacturers it is hard to get the full bore engine outputs. How they tune and run the 7 liters Chip is gonna run in the refurbished challengers he is gonna build might be of some serious interest. He wont be dealing with catalytic converters and most vehicles of that time are no longer emissions tested. Are they programming there own ecu codes or just using available stock codes. Keeping engines emissions passable is the downfall of getting the most out of todays engines.

Re: Latest Challenger info from Allpar.com

Well, I thought most vehicles easily pass these days since leaded gas in not available...I mean unless there's visible smoke coming out , I just don't smell a big deal ? Why doesn't government chase after diesel vehicles ; big rigs, busses and others ? Those fumes really bother me even coming into vehicle when windows are closed [ like Tobacco smoke too ] ! Also, Does anyone know if e85 emissions are well within epa's guidelines ?

They are, that's why you guys in the USA have low sulfur diesel coming in this fall and higher emissions specs in comparison to Europe where diesel vehicles are the norm.

e85 is awesome, my only problem is the drastically lower mpg. It is a good start but I don't believe it is the cure.
