General DiscussionThis section contains general discussion about the new Dodge Challenger concept. If it does not fit into a more specific area, it probably belongs in here. (Dodge Challenger General Discussion)
My car has a japan engine in it and as far as the rice burner goes it puts down around 200 whp (dyno proven) and gets 28 mpg (does any supercharged cobra do that 03- 05 and the new one?). Oh and for your other comments. Gas prices have nothing to do with environmental changes occuring, eventually we will have to find an alternative fuel source and that is a FACT. Who is in office now? How much do they gain each year from the oil and gas lobbyists? Look at the FORBES 100 top 5 companies and ask your ownself if gas prices should be that HIGH? Then come back on here and back up your ridiculous statements.
I don't care what rice-burner roto-rootin' 200Whp car can do,... its butt ugly!!!...Period!!...(wow 200whp thats impressive...NOT!! ...As far as an 03 and 04 cobras,..yes as a matter of fact I know 2 of them that put down 550 and 600 rwhp, and they get about 18 mpg,....but then again who cares about 18 mpg,.. as the car looks very cool and makes 600rwhp..so your right a 03-04 can't make your whopping 200whp,.it makes only 600rwhp!!We as a country our seeking alternative fuels,so we don't have to be dependent on foreign oil,as well as what's going on in Iraq has kept prices high,...BUT... at least under the current office we're driving high performance vehicles without them putting strict laws on the auto. manf.,....but your lie-beral demon-crats will put very tough laws with resrtictions and penalties on auto manf.,...killing these cool higher hp American muscle cars of today that we have right now! We will have high performance cars of the future, but they will be more alternative in styling and performance, ...no thanks!!!
I do not not think my car is butt ugly but then again I do not drive it to impress people like you. We have 3-4 honda vehicles (along with a ford f150) and I have a friend that works at the honda dealership and I see people drive in Dodge and Ford trucks all day long to get something that gets better gas mileage. They are not switching to honda for the fun of it. Idiots like yourself have not a clue as to what you are talking about then just look stupid when things in this country go bad. Ford and GM wonder why they are having trouble while import makers are increasing US production and expanding US operations. Gas prices affect more than just your wallet. Things like the postage rates increase, transporation rates increase, cost of goods and services go up, unemployment increases due to the effects of gas prices, and companies such as ford and gm have to perform layoffs and restrict production in order to remain competitive.
Back on topic-- I hope that they will build the challenger but when I look at the models they are releasing and from what I am hearing from the dealerships. I do not see it happening. They make it I will buy one but they do not then I will probably stick to imports......
Yes they do make vipers, srt8s, and the srt4, but have you seen the new srt4 it has moved into a mini mitsubishi 4 door hauler (has 300 hp though). Dodge has moved more towards practical automobiles. I have an inside ear into one of Dodge's top retail dealers and they told me that dodge has made "we will build it" statements before only not to come through. I am not tring to bust anyones bubbles but why would they build the challenger which would sell less than 20,000 units a year as a mass car when they can sell 100,000 trucks and suvs. The challanger is a nice prototype car and maybe something will come of it, but as long as they keep not making an announcement on the car.
This status leaves me to thinking that if the challenger name makes it back then it will be some mitsubishi designed crap wagon or maybe the next stealth/3000gt model. Who knows? I do not think we will ever see the prototype challenger car on us roads.......
HONDA2MOPAR should change his name to HONDA2HONDA. A real MOPAR guy knows about the soul and the tradition of the challenger! It is not something you learn...it is something you FEEL! For me a Honda is a good TOOL..and a CHALLENGER is SOUL!
1. Vanishing point, just go buy a mustang since you seem to like those more than any other car.
2. 03 -04 Mustangs are ugly pieces of ****, no matter how much HP they have, SERIUOSLY
3. Hondas have NO power and NO styling, but I guess people buy them for MPG/Reliability anyways.
4. GM SUCKS (AKA Garbage Motors)
5. And gas prices were 0.99 in Texas when Clinton was in office.
6. Shelby is an A$$hole
7. The challenger should have 3 engines: v6, 6.1, and 6.4 with auto and manual options.
8. 5.7 is not needed because the wieght of the chally makes it non-competitive with the mustang and comaro. And i'm sure the mpg is not much better than the 6.1
9. everyone lighten up, cuz i'm sure I just pissed every one off.
...oh no,not another one...Another intellectual...Not!! .....only after 2nd time...incredible!! ...soo many targets, soo few rounds!! Anyways to get back on topic,I'm hoping that by the end of the Atlanta show,I believe in May,that dcx will finally release some info to the public on the challenger being an official release, and I'm hoping with many variants in options and choices!
