Question Missing Part holding up 2009 Builds?

Hi all,
So I e-mailed my dealer to check on my 2008 SRT-8 Challenger status to see if I'm in "C" status yet, and he replied:

"I will call Chrysler tomorrow and find out what the hold up is. It looks like they are waiting for a specific part to build it. I will have more info on Monday."

Anyone heard of this "hold up" or "specific part," just curious? He's been great at updating me weekly and he is the General Sales Manager. I'll be sure to post anything he finds out, but was curious if anyone else heard this from their dealers?

Re: Missing Part holding up 2009 Builds?

Wait, your subject says 2009 and your post says 2008. Which is it?

If 2008:
If production was held up for any reason Bob Frederick probably would've shared something on redletterdodge.com. I doubt that this late in the game they're short-handed on parts -- especially with the extreme caution they took in the initial 2008 inspection process.

If 2009:
They wouldn't wait on a part before dropping you into C status. A missing part would likely only keep you out of D1 status (scheduled for gateline). I wouldn't worry about it at all.

To sum it up - I view it as highly doubtful any significant problems exist. Sit back, relax, and impatiently browse the forums looking at Challengers like the rest of us

It is a 2009, it was a impatient misprint. Thanks for the info.

Re: Missing Part holding up 2009 Builds?

No problem. I believe (guessing here) that the only requirement to drop into C status is that the dealership you're purchasing from has received "allocation" from Chrysler that Chrysler is willing to build X cars for the dealership during Y build period. The dealer then gets X cars shifted to C -- usually in the order they were ordered in the system.

That's my personal understanding of it, but I could be wrong.

If parts were missing for the build, it would probably go into BG status.

If you're in D1, your car has a ship date. Ask your dealer. No since worrying when you know a date. Relax. The anticipation is the best part. Ten years from now you wont be nearly as excited!

I've owned my AAR Cuda for 15 years and I still enjoy the hell out of that car. It gets a lot of looks so I can't imagine what the Challenger will do.

It will take many years if not decades to reduce the reaction when someone sees this car.If anything as the big engine cars dry up they will become more and more desirable.Instant celebrity status.
