**UPDATE**Missing Part holding up 2009 Builds?

Okay, so here was my dealers resonse:

"We are still getting to push the order through, however I am hearing 2 possible delays. The Manual Trans is on restriction, and the orders are not processed in order of receive, they are processed in order of where the vehicles are being shipped to and in order of like orders. All non roof bodies first, all similar options first etc. Please rest assured that Jim Crook, Chrysler and I are in daily contact with the status of your order and you will be the first to know."

Any thoughts on this?

Re: Missing Part holding up 2009 Builds?

Not processing orders in order of receipt or at least in order of allocation would seem like a horrendous decision to me. I would EXTREMELY doubt that's the case. They may 'group' the cars together for whatever cars are allocated for that month, sure -- but I find it hard to believe that if you select a rare option combo that you could be screwed out of a car even if you were the first order in the system. Likewise regarding proximity to Brampton. Proximity will definitely affected DELIVERY time.. but build order? I don't believe it.

Any "holds" on parts (like the manual tranny) seems ridiculous to me. They haven't even started building '09s yet - how would they run into a 'problem' that would put manual transmissions on hold?

None of the information adds up. Everything still seems to be going along with Bob's outlook on the situation.

[1] Dealers all over are getting their monthly allocations and it includes some SRT8s and some R/T's -- these allocations are for August.
[2] If your car was outside of your dealer's allocations for the month and they couldn't fit you in, your car dropped to BG status and you'll get another go next month during te 2nd week of July when September allocations are determined.

Sounds like your dealer is making things up to buy time because they're trying to get additional allocations to include your car. I'm wondering if some of the 'problems' that the dealer claims exist mysteriously clear up the 2nd week of July

Bingo! They are stalling as they dont have the allocation for your car at this time.
July may prove to be a better month for you as well.
Im right with you as I wait for the July numbers as well.
30 plus years and counting hope this ends soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those two reasons make alot of sense, and that seems to be the case with the 08's. Similarly optioned cars are paired up, that keeps chrysler from having to change their tooling each time.

Re: Missing Part holding up 2009 Builds?

And his latest feedback:

"What I mean is they build like vehicles is together first, all of the bodies that are coming with no moon roof or similar paint, they build them in order, and then they change up the process to accommodate the vehicles with different needs and build them all together. Not excuses, just at the mercy of Chrysler LLC and their order banks."

What do you guys think about this response?

Re: Missing Part holding up 2009 Builds?

The brampton production line can make Chargers, Challengers & 300's at just about the same time.....why would it make a difference what tranny they use.

"just at the mercy of Chrysler LLC and their order banks." sounds like they have a small allocation for the first month.

Re: Missing Part holding up 2009 Builds?

So why is this the latest post from Dodge?

"In response to your email, we need to inform you that as per our
records, the status of your vehicle is currently "BG - the vehicle is on
hold for a material restriction?. We therefore, suggest that you
contact the Sales Manager of your dealership to discuss on the material
restriction and determine the possible sales code changes."

So what is the hold up now?

I just got off the phone with Chrysler and I got the same response. My '09 SRT8 is on hold for material restiction - contact my dealer. I have no idea if the "material restriction" is on the part of Chrysler or dealer allocation. I'm waiting for my salesman to get in. As soon as I get some sort of a straight answer, I'll let you know.
