Re: More info from Budman - Those with '09 SRT8 orders, read!

A bit more information has come to light, but all I can tell you guys really is that if you haven't already pursued ordering an '09 SRT8 you may want to consider an R/T or think about a 2010. Don't take this as concrete information -- as it's not -- but by no means is it going to be easy to tag an SRT8 even in '09. R/T is a different story.

Cool thanks, and keep us posted please!
Dont want too in any way always consider the worst outcome, but this is a bit unsettleing to some degree. It is no surprise the SRT8 will be a rare beast but who and how many is now the big question here...And when also!

Re: More info from Budman - Those with '09 SRT8 orders, read!

im kind of leaning to what was mentioned earlier. Those guys that lost their 08 orders will get first priority on an 09 with auto, if they want a manual they will have to order again and go to the back of the line. Atleast thats what i feel is going to happen, and in reality is only fair.

Re: More info from Budman - Those with '09 SRT8 orders, read!

well the reason i say its the only fair thing to do is because the guys that ordered the 08's mainly did so just to say they have the first edition of the new generation. Not to mention, they wanted regardless of the options on the car. So ok, thats cool. Some of those guys were willing to pay a premium to be able to say that, others were not. So as a result alot of people will not be getting the car. Now on the other hand, you have us that waited it out for an 09 just to have a 6 speed. I dont think it would be fair for chrysler to let those 08 orderers jump in front of us unless they stick with what they had ordered originally. If they choose to keep their original order, just label it an 09, then so be it. Put them ahead of us because they were first. If they are wanting to swap to the 6 speed, they should IMO, have to fall in line. They could have easily dropped their 08 order and placed one on an 09. THey didnt because they wanted that limited first edition. I think if chrysler deals with this issue in any other way, there will be mobs of mad people. IMO the best thing for chrysler to do at this point, is say who is and who isnt getting an 08. That way those people can plan for an 09, maybe even a 2010. Chrysler should accomodate all orders, but we all know that wont be the case. There seems to be way more interest in the SRT's than any other model, so i would suggest just cutting out the SE's until all orders are taken care of. I would even go as far as cutting off all SRT orders from this point on, just to keep it the limited version.

Re: More info from Budman - Those with '09 SRT8 orders, read!

perfectly put 425! We do know they're building 6400 '08s and they had over 10,000 orders!! As you mentioned, at lot of those 10,000 may have simply been capitalists trying to score investment dollars. Looking at past SRT sales for the Charger (another thread floating around talks about it) there weren't that many Chargers SRTs built each year. It may be that Dodge just can't build that many Challenger SRTs per year due to CAFE standards?!?!? Very likely I'm afraid. Maybe it would be prudent to stop all SRT order taking until they straighten out the madness. I hope for Dodge's sake they don't ruin it for the enthusiasts. I've waited YEARS for this and I don't want to settle for an R/T after waiting and planning as long as I have.

Re: More info from Budman - Those with '09 SRT8 orders, read!

exactly. Very well put. The enthusiasts deserve the SRT's not the money hungry capitalists. Its not fair to the consumers. But its always us that have to pay in the end. Best bet, is to cut the SRT orders, build whats ordered and throw in the 08 orders that were not taken. That would be ideal
