Re: More Rumors

I agree with Rallye72 -- let's no panic until we see the actual car. We have to expect some deviations from the concept car -- that's how it works in the auto business. Even with a few changes, the new Challenger will be so much cooler than anything else out there, it will blow people's minds.

My only fear is they will turn this car into a luxo-boat with a lot of heavy, silly-ass features that only appeal to yuppies and techno geeks. Keep it a performance car, for pete sake! I'm a little less concerned now that the Germans are out of the picture.

Ok, Standard AM radio for you too!

Seriously, I am not sure what options you are talking about but they are called "options" for a reason. A Satellite radio is not going to weigh anything more than a standard radio nor would a seat warmer or most other options.

Let the tech people (like myself) have their fun too.

Re: More Rumors

Hey, you can have whatever options you like. I just hope I can get my Challenger with a minimum number of gee gaws. The satellite radio might not add weight, but some of the other silly stuff does.

And I'm sorry, a muscle car has no need for a nav system! Others might feel differently. So be it.

Re: More Rumors

I don't need all of the latest high-tech stuff either- especially if it increases the cost of an already expensive car.

From looking at the Charger SRTs on most dealer lots, they are ordered with all three option packages to maximize dealer profits. I suspect that most dealers will order their Challengers fully loaded, too. The only way to avoid this is to order one without all of the "extras."

Hey, I want radio-delete in mine. All I want is a big-azz engine, a 6-speed, and air conditioning

I had to special-order my Charger with no options. All I got was EVIC. Same with my Mustang, no options. A car is meant to DRIVE.

Re: More Rumors

Well, some people want all the options, some people want strippers. Let's see, maybe they'll have:

R/T = bare bones fast
R/T / SE = Fast with options

SRT = REALLY FAST
SRT / SE = REALLY FAST and comfy.

At any rate, I can't wait to see this car in person. I know there are going to be some changes here and there. But all it has to do is remain relatively close to the concept to be awesome.

Well , hopefully the proper personel at the New Chrysler / Dodge have read most of the threads here [ including the massive archives ], channeled them and consider those and hopefully appease those !! Apparently, Toyota {'s people are} ; at least through their SCION brand, is pretty hip : when it comes to modding !! A few days ago I got a Scion catalog [ no, not for myself,,,I mean to look at ,,since I'd rather see my Mom have a tC instead of the Cobalt; but she doesn't want ' a foreign car' !!] ! As I flipped through to the tC's , I noticed Toyota has an extremely limited availability for a model called the tC Spec , which is a bare bones model just for tuners/modding...'Starts with a clean slate' !! Just from my readings here @ Challengertalk , it's obvious [ and a little amazing to me anyway] that there are a lot of people who like and do modding ! If Dodge would actually impliment this segment, they would/could increase sales/profits ...by what 10-20 % ?

Re: More Rumors

I think Cuda 340 nailed it -- it's hard to find a top-end performance model on a dealer lot that does not come with all of the added options. I also understand that's how most people want their cars today. For the dealer, it's a matter of what will sell the fastest. Still, it would be nice if you could lay your hands on a stripper (the automotive variety!) with the largest available engine! That's what made the '60s and '70s so much fun!
