General DiscussionThis section contains general discussion about the new Dodge Challenger concept. If it does not fit into a more specific area, it probably belongs in here. (Dodge Challenger General Discussion)
I found this tidbit of information in a wikipedia article about Hemi engines:
"On Aug. 17, 2007, a rumor surfaced that the 2008/2009 Challenger SRT will, in fact, be powered by a 7.0L hemi engine - marking the return not only of the Challenger marquee, but also of a 426 cubic inch displacement engine. The engine reportedly will be based (loosely based) on the current hemi engines, but will feature four valves per cylinder with dual-independent variable cam timing. Reportedly, this step was needed to best the Chevrolet LS7 engine, which is slated for the 2009 Camaro redux. Performance figures for the 7.0L hemi have not been disclosed yet."
before I get too excited, the reference states that this is "a rumor". It would be nice to see the 7.0, but I'll believe it when we get confirmation from reliable sources, not just rumors.
I read somewhere (this part is a fact) that Chrysler is thinking about building three V8 Challenger: a base Dodge 5.7, a Dodge SRT with the 6.4..and a higher end Chrysler special car (Cuda) with a 7.0 L (426 c.i.d.)!
I sure hope this is our future...Chrysler here I come!

I can help you there: look at post #113 , that's our HemiDakota's Blogspot ! This info, I believe, is in its very early development stage..trials & testing ..nothing official yet.I also think we all should "try" to keep this info close to heart. If the competition reads this..then maybe it won't be the fastest, biggest, powerfullest, etc. = 'Loose Lips Sink Autoships' & other neat stuff from the Dodge Boys' Skunkwerks ?!?!?
Hey does anyone know the pricing for the Challenger? I spoke to the Dodge dealer and he says they will begin taking $1000 deposit and when they are given the ok by Dodge, they will call me and then order the car, etc.
Does that sound right?

No, that info isn't released as yet. When it's on their website, would/might be a clue. Thousands of people like yourself have been asking this. See, the Dodge Challenger Project is still being tested aka "Mules".All of the necessary details have /need to worked out. For example ,there is a so-called B-pillar that seems/might be on these test vehiculars and will there really be one on the production versions. They might/may have to be implimented to satisfy the Feds ...unless the lawyers and /or public can initiate ; by signing a legal document that waives our safety /rights :whereby we as the buyer do not want a B-Pillar'd Challenger : for our own safety reason i.e. to eliminate a blind spot which creates a potential safety/death hazzard. Also, in my opinion the Challenger sits lower and probably will/would have one of the least chances of a roll over : which again for the most part relates to the safe driving of that particular driver !!! Also, welcome to Challengertalk Klaatu, Barettaa , & Necktoe ! ! P.S. =
The reported price (?) of the 2008 Challenger is supposed to be in the $25,000 to $35,000 range. Does this mean that a V-6 will be offered the first year?
