Re: More Rumors

It is rumored that there will be 4 engine choices in 2009:

3.5 V6
5.7 Hemi w/MDS
5.7 Hemi w/MDS & VVT (variable valve timing)
6.1 Hemi (SRT)

Mine will be the 6.1 Hemi.

(The 6.4 Hemi will probably not be available until 2010).

Well, then with a Natural Progression , might we see a 6.6L in 2011 , 6.8L - 2012 , and then the Mighty 7.0L [aka 426 HEMI } in say 2013 !

That would be great if it happened. But, unfortunately, because of high gas prices and increased fleet mileage requirements, I think that the Challenger will only have a 3-4 year run. That is why I am not waiting and will buy early in 2009.

This is what will be offered:

3.5 V6
5.7 Hemi NO MDS but with VCT (variable cam timing) --manual trans models--
5.7 Hemi w/MDS & VCT (variable cam timing) --auto trans models--
6.1 Hemi (SRT)

Re: More Rumors

Are they still talking about releasing the '09 specs and prices in January?

Re: More Rumors

I was talking to a guy at work. Over the weekend he visited the local dealer about a Miata. Somehow the conversation turned to the Challenger. Sales manager told him they're getting 3 cars for 08. They'll be priced about 4k over MSRP. Said that if he wanted one to go ahead and order it. I'm in SE Arizona, small town of about 40k.

I'll probably stop by the dealer later this week to follow up on this just to see if it's true. All I really want to do is be there when they role in off the truck and get some pictures and maybe some of the dealer brochures. Am waitng for an 09.

anyway, more grist for the rumor mill...
