General DiscussionThis section contains general discussion about the new Dodge Challenger concept. If it does not fit into a more specific area, it probably belongs in here. (Dodge Challenger General Discussion)
Hey, do you remember that pesky little rumor that Chrysler may be taking over the Challenger and leaving Dodge as a place for trucks because the Dodge brand is far to "male-centric". Well, I heard that rumor again this weekend from someone outside of this online community.
My friend of many years who works for Ford said he heard from a Chrysler guy that they are thinking about doing this. And thats why they changed the crossbar from the front end of the Challenger. Personally, I thought they did that because it looked liked ass. Anywho, maybe thats why Dodge came out with the "Limited Edition" SRTs. So some people will still get the Dodge nameplate on the challenger before it switches over to Chrysler.
but just remember, this is just a rumor.
I can't really see them doing this, what with the 09 going on sale 3rd quarter 2008. They have been advertising the **** out it as a dodge, so I think that would confuse people and hurt sales.
The Dodge brand is the leading domestic seller in the U.S. I don't think that they would convert it into a truck division, like GMAC, but with the new ownership, who can be sure?
I think Chrysler would get a Cuda version before that happened.

It's the mechanics and looks that matter but Chrysler in front of "CUDA or even Barracuda : just doesn't sound right aka 'have the same ring to it ' ! !! Would not it just be smarter , better to just re-impliment the New Plymouth : have a 2010 7.0L HEMI 'Cuda as its first model ! !!I thought Cerebus has "deep pockets" ; why is Nardelli " feeling some type of squeeze" and doing 'Kamakahzee' things like transferring the Public Relations Dept.over to the Human Relations Dept. : ??

Cerberus is having trouble finding investors to fund the $10 billion it has already outstanding, so borrowing more money is probably not going to happen for a while. And while $10B sounds like a boatload of cash, an OEM can burn thru that pretty quickly. So, the other alternative is to cut expenses, and that's what Nardelli is doing. When Vines "quit", they eliminated his position, which saves them some money. I don't understand putting Page Ranking under HR, but I'm sure there's a method to the madness.

"The initial 2008 Dodge Challengers will all be SRT8 models with five speed automatic transmissions. When the 2009 Challengers hit the streets the SRT8 models will have an optional six-speed manual transmission. The models equipped with the manual transmission also comes with a new Hill Start Assist (HSA) feature. A 3.5L V6 and 5.7L HEMI V8 will also become available.
Sometime in 2009 Dodge is going to release a convertible version and the 3.5L V6 will be upgraded to a new 4.0L Phoenix engine in 2011. The HEMI engine in the SRT8 is also expected to get an upgrade in the future to a 6.4L engine instead of the current 6.1L. This will bump up horsepower to between 450 to 500."
This change in the badging is more than an online rumor. It was reported in last months Motor Trend. The article also speculated as to what Cerebus long and/or short term plans might be as to the future of the Auto maker, which included the possibilities of selling off the various divisions.

For Cerberus ,their plan is just to make money both short & long term ! !! Splitting up Dodge from parent Chrysler would not be wise as the name ,Cerberus implies ! Adding PLYMOUTH makes more cents to me !!
Motor Trend is such a lame magazine. I don't believe much they say.
