I did, previously, post this information from another source. This is just a "confirmation." (The more sources you hear the same rumor, the truer it often is).

Re: More Rumors

This information about 2008 Challenger sales, the interior dash and the car's seat belt operation was posted by a reliable source on allpar:

"So far: Total 2008 = 7,200 Units, 700 are for Canada....subject to change...

Looks like the IP surround has gone from a biege to a satin silver color...Also interesting are the front seatbelt mounts. Normally the seatbelts on two door cars are bolted to the bottom of the B post, then travel up the B post at which point you grab it and place over your chest. But in the Challenger it is set up like in a convertible. There is a small bar, maybe 4 inches long at the bottom of the B post which the seat belt is attached to. This allows it to slide back and forth to help with getting it out of the way when getting in the back. Then the seat belt travels through a loop at the top of the seats like in a convertible. You grab the seat belt from the top of the seat and then place across you chest. Maybe they have this system in place for when a vert is built? For hard top or soft top line installation process would be the same..."

Re: More Rumors

I hate to hear that about the seatbelt. That's a dealbreaker for me. I hate those kind of seatbelts.

Re: More Rumors

I found this interesting article about the 2009 models. The writer claims that the 2009 Challenger will be built on the new LY platform (I thought that the LYs would not show up until 2010?) and a Chrysler 'Cuda may be in the works. See:

Even with most 2008 models still on their way to showrooms, it's not too early to take a sneak peak at the hottest of the hot for the 2009 model year. Final specifications might change between now and the time these vehicles hit the showrooms -- and there will be more detail -- but the production versions will closely mirror what you see here.

DODGE CHALLENGER

While the current Ford Mustang and the next-generation Chevrolet Camaro pay only stylistic homage to their forebears, the 2009 Dodge Challenger is nearly a dead-nuts-on knock-off of the popular 1970-74 model. The Challenger will be built on an updated version of the LX platform -- the LY, of course -- which comes from the Dodge Charger and Magnum and the Chrysler 300. A sleek two-door, four-passenger coupe, you can bet the Challenger will come with a Hemi V8 under the hood. A tantalizing, but unconfirmed, rumour is the Challenger could have a sister car, the Chrysler 'Cuda.

This writer sounds like a typical dealership salesperson: not too correct and/or up on the current. I thought the platform was a shortened LY which is labeled as the new LC platform ? He also must be reading Challengertalk [ but how could he?] and /or a few other forums; since I believe I was the first [ 77Monte Carlo saw my post, then asked Doc Z again and posted on another forum or two] to ask DR. Z about a possible 'CUDA ,without me even mentioning the word " Chrysler " and Doc Z responded with a Chrysler 'Cuda [ and if that doesn't sound weird ...a Chrysler Cuda ...It's a Plymouth Barracuda !!! P.S. For a reference look at post #8 - Ask Dr. Z responses

It can be for me, if Chrysler uses the GM-style belts that come out of the top of the seat. As tall as I am, those are very uncomfortable since they pull down on my shoulder while I'm driving. Another in a long line of reasons why I no longer drive GM products.

Re: More Rumors

I know im going completely against everything we know and have seen, but would the seat belt placement indicate a lack of a b pillar?
