General DiscussionThis section contains general discussion about the new Dodge Challenger concept. If it does not fit into a more specific area, it probably belongs in here. (Dodge Challenger General Discussion)
Ralph Gilles, vice president of Jeep, truck, and component design, stated in the Car and Driver article that : "The hot designer thinks, in many ways, that the Challenger was a better design than the ’Cuda." Does he talk to MOPAR enthusiasts? I will bet that if it was up to us, a 'Cuda model would be preferred over the Challenger.
I prefer the CHALLENGER thank you very much. Nothing against the Cuda, but Plymouth is gone R.I.P. Chrysler Cuda just doesen't cut it IMHO. Anyway if they are going retro, a 68 Barracuda fastback is what I want. Or even an updated 65... Call me crazy but i am a MUCH bigger fan of A body Cudas than E body ones.

IMO Ralph Gilles is wrong about lots of things... including this.

Observant folks will note that Gilles's portfolio no longer includes cars, probably because too many of his car designs tended to look like trucks.
I think the Challenger will sell itself just fine. And it will quickly outsell the Charger proving to those with power what we have all said from day one...Four doors are not performance.
speaking from a youngster with little or no knowledge of car history. WTF is a Cuda? No disrespect but I've seen and heard more about the 69 charger than a cuda there for I'm more incline to buy a charger if I was looking for a retro car. So I think the comment stands. Maybe for those who know more about the history of cars the cuda is the way to go but I don't think that's what they are marketing for entirely.
NO worries Noid, the 1970 - 1974 Cuda is one of the most collectible muscle cars out there, with the 1971 probably being the most popular due to its one year quad head lamp front end and plethora of options. The 1970-1974 Cuda, is a sister car of the 1970-1974 Dodge Challenger(although A body Barracudas were built between 1965(introduced a few weeks before the Mustang I might add) and 1969. the 70-74 were built on the same basic frame with the same engine optins, etc, etc.
At any rate, the E-body pony cars command $1,000's of dollars more then 90% of any Chevy, Pontiac, or Ford (save for an original Shelby)
Heres a pic of a 1971 Cuda, Hemi, Bad A$$ car. That Cuda is worth a mint right now. A 1969 Hemi Charger Daytona 500 "might" be worth that some day, its Lucky sum bitch who owns that or a similar( even luckier if they own Panther pink, or Sublime, or Even Triple Black hemi 4 speed!!!!).In the back ground is a 1970 Dodge Challenger 340+6. Nice car that is basically the same(both are "E" bodies")
