General DiscussionThis section contains general discussion about the new Dodge Challenger concept. If it does not fit into a more specific area, it probably belongs in here. (Dodge Challenger General Discussion)
As I see some official stuff for the Camaro, I still like the Challenger. However, the lack of a 5 spd or 6 spd auto is starting to change my mind about the Challenger.
I know the V8 is a different game, but I will be getting a V6. I'm just not sure anymore and have doubts about the Challerger when I look and compare specs.
Help me deal with this issue.

The 2009 Challenger is basically a clone of the 2006 concept Challenger which won "Best of Show" in the 2006 Detroit Auto Show. Does anything else have to be said?
Id say buy what you like. Noone but you knows what you like the best. For me it was a no brainer. Sorry if Im not much help..its just Mustangs and Camaros....dime a dozen, always have been always will be.

I wouldn't worry about the 4 spd with the 3.5L. I had an 07 Charger with 3.5/5spd and my 08 300 has 3.5/4spd. I thought I would hate the 4spd, but it actually drives better than the Charger did. It seems more responsive and I don't notice the missing gear change at all. Fuel mileage is about the same, so I say go for it.
Supposedly for 2010, the V6 will be upgraded to the 4.0 and have a 6-speed auto (or at least a 5-speed).
I know no one is 100% sure since we don't work for Chrysler.
So let me understand. They will put a new engine and transmission on an "exisiting car?" Normally, there won't be a major update like powertrain, unless it's a major makeover. I assume Challenger, being new for 09, will not be updated for a good 4-5+ years.

The new engine wont be coming until 2011 or 2012

There wont be any major changes to the SE in 11 and 12. There is a new engine in the works that they will be putting in which is the 4L Phoenix V6 and I'm not sure about the transmission but I'm sure they would accommodate the new engine with a slightly upped tranny.
I am not going to say anything bad about the Camaro, in fact I quite like them. the V-6 Camaro will have approximately 300 horses and a 6 spd manual or a 6 spd auto. That being said, buy what suits you better once you drive them. Both cars look fantastic, and I am similarly in a quandry, SS, Z28 or SRT?

You may have to take the Z-28 off your list. Rumors says that it may be axed because poor automotive sales and the gas situation.

Z-28 is still a go. There are no specs for it out though. But if the ss is at 410+ hp just imagine what the Z-28 will be capable of. To the O/P drive both and go with what best suits you. IMO both are great cars.
