Muscle car sound

I have been listening to clips of exhaust manufacturers. New cars don't sound anything like the old ones. You can go to most of the exhaust manufacturers to hear clips but nothing sound even close to this:

Scroll down and click "hear start and run"

That's what a muscle car is supposed to sound like!

Re: Muscle car sound

Trust me, that sound does not sprout out of that car's exhaust system. lol An old 6 pack drummer with a 484 lift?.........u kiddin me? I guess NOT modern engine/exhaust systems don't sound like that anymore. Hehe.

Although I will say I've heard a fair share of more recent cars with pretty big cams and full exhaust that sounded close. But hey, u just can't beat old school.

Re: Muscle car sound

I have just spent the last several hours trying to find a Charger that sounds good. This is the best I can come up with. No offense to this guy because if that's as good as it gets I'll live with it but damn it sounds very 80's Mustang to me.

It did bring a tear to my eye. Thinking back a few years ago when I sold all my mopar stuff, including a pretty cherry 69 Barracuda with a 500 cubic inch stroker motor and six pack project car. I had been collecting these parts for 10 years, and in less than a weeks time, all sold...

Now I drive a ford ranger

RoostKing...

Re: Muscle car sound

What would sound awesome would be something like a GMMG Chambered Exhaust for the Challenger, some nice oval tips would finish off the exhaust nicely.

Re: Muscle car sound

With the use of cat. conv. and other govn. regulations, I doubt you will ever hear an exhaust note like the ones most of us grew up with.

Re: Muscle car sound

I think the new Mustang sounds pretty good. I don't hear them making that babbling noise. The Chevys at GMMG sound good also. Here is the link:

Re: Muscle car sound

Yea, unfortunately its hard to get close to that old school sound these days while still staying emissions legal. But as I said, a good sized cam setup in these modern V8's with the piping to support it can get the job done.

BTW......is anyone out there making aftermarket cams for the new Hemis?
