General DiscussionThis section contains general discussion about the new Dodge Challenger concept. If it does not fit into a more specific area, it probably belongs in here. (Dodge Challenger General Discussion)
The April 5, 2007 Chicago Tribune newspaper hadan interesting article about new car models/options. Apparently Ford is taking the new muscle car war seriously. Here is the excerpt:
"With the Chevy Camaro and Dodge Challenger muscle cars coming soon, Ford is pushing speed. It is preparing a new Mustang derivative for next spring, the 2008 Shelby GT500KR, inspired by the 1968 Mustang KR, with a 5.4-liter, 540-horsepower, supercharged V-8, hood scoops, twist-down hood pins and front air dam. Only 1,000 will be sold with numbered 40th-anniversary dash plaques for collectors.
"Ford is concerned about Camaro and Challenger and needs more Mustang derivatives to take them on," said Art Spinella, general manager of CNW Marketing Research. "We've heard the next version of the Mustang convertible is going to be a retractable hardtop for that reason, and because people have become so noise and security conscious."
Yep ,and now all the insurance companies will be aware [ maybe Govern-mental authorities too ]and clamp down.! The muscle car wars will be coming to another shortened end sooner than we all would like == Over & Out ! ! !

Yep! And history will repeat itself. The new Chrylser corporation will come into effect just in time to build Omnis and Horizons. Or wait a couple of years for the return of the K car!

I hope that doesn't happen. If it does, the Challenger will be produced in relatively small numbers before it is axed. In the short run, this may mean higher purchase prices...but in the long run, maybe the Challengers will become collector items when the world rides around in hybrids or electric cars.
I don't think we have to worry about the new pony wars getting axed. I just think that entry is gonna get more expensive........which, really, it already is. Ppl are paying 60K+ for the standard GT500s right now (20K+ in markups), and the new KR model (540hp) will probably fetch alot more than that.
As long as the new muscle/pony cars continue to meet emissions standards.....and the goverment doesn't turn into a total tree-hugger........I don't think we have to worry about a premature end to the fun. As I said, its just gonna hit your pocket book alot harder than it would have back in the late 60's/early 70's.

Well if the last election is any indication...We might all be sporting smart cars.
Are those double nostril slits [ in the hood ] functional or for show ?Also , is the honey comb type grille plastic or a type of metal ?
The forward vents and rear heat extractors on the new carbon fiber hood are both functional. They also added brake cooling air ducts to the lower grill. Suspension is also supposedly been reworked more towards all out handling....as demonstrated by the lowered stance.
I remember hearing that the grill on the KR was gonna be metal (as opposed to the plastic on the regular GT500), but I'm not sure if they followed thru with it or not. None of the articles I read so far have mentioned it.
