Need advice SRT or RT

Not to be a jerk, money isn't the issue in my decision, upgrading is.

Should I order a SRT or a RT? I really like the look of the shaker hood is that actually going to be available? Is the rt going to have a lot more aftermarket parts than the SRT? If I went with the 6 speed with the 3.92 rear end in the RT, other then the engine size is there really any difference?

Placing my order today and can use some help

Re: Need advice SRT or RT

srt has upgraded brakes and suspension also. if you were going with an aftermarket suspension, then it has bigger brakes.

since you want the manual trans, then you cannot get the electronic convenience group or mygig on the R/T. Why they did that, I have not idea.

I wouldn't get mygig, but what is in the electronic convenience group? Could I get better aftermarket calipers cheaper then the SRT price spread?

If you can afford the SRT, get it.....night and day difference......Brakes, suspension, handling, engine...fun factor.

Re: Need advice SRT or RT

Both the 5.7 and 6.1 cars have many parts available for them, Heads, cams, intake manifolds, headers, TB's, etc. By starting with the 6.1 (SRT) you will end up making more power then the 5.7 cars with the same mods. In theory, with the same mods performed to both the 5.7 and 6.1- the 6.1 will always make more power. If you plan of upgrading everything on the RT to SRT spec, it will cost more in the end. I have seen many, many people buy a 300C for example and transform it to SRT8 spec and end up spending much more then if they would have bought the SRT to start with.

For the price difference, you could do a head and cam upgrade, DiabloSport Predator, exhaust, Cold Air Intake to the RT for the price of a stock SRT. The RT would make approx. 390-410whp and a stock SRT would make around 360whp. So the RT would have more power, but not the suspension/brakes etc of the SRT.

An SRT with the Predator, CAI, and exhaust would make approx. 385-395whp.
An SRT with the above mentioned + Head and Cam would make approx. 415-450whp(depending on which cam was chosen.)

I have first-hand experience with the MyGIG. It's a good gadget if you want navigation, Sirrius radio and the ability to load up the HD with music. The U-connect, hands-free phone feature is intergrated and works really well.

Re: Need advice SRT or RT

I went through the same dilemma, here are the reasons that I decided on the SRT:

The SRT is 1/2" lower than the RT, and gets rave reviews for both handling and ride. So unless you want to live with the stiffer ride of aftermarket suspension, the SRT suspension and the larger brakes make it worth it to me. I've seen cars with aftermarket suspension run slower lap times than the same car with a really nice factory-tuned stock suspension, so I won't be touching my SRT suspension.

And the Challenger's SRT seats are to die for- I think they're really necessary to improve the otherwise ho-hum interior.

And of course, there's no substitute for cubes!

Re: Need advice SRT or RT

Also, with the SRT, you belong to an exclusive "club" and, with only about 5,000 cars, you will not see yourself at every corner!

and..you get the SRT Experience.
