General DiscussionThis section contains general discussion about the new Dodge Challenger concept. If it does not fit into a more specific area, it probably belongs in here. (Dodge Challenger General Discussion)
Not to take anything away from the SRTs, since they're awesome cars, but I chose the R/T. I already have one high-horsepower garage queen in my Shelby GT500. I intend to drive the Challenger, even on long-distance trips to car shows. I didn't want the fuel-mileage penalty of the 6.1 and I didn't want to pay the gas guzzler tax. Or the higher price. The R/T fits my needs perfectly for what I intend to do with this car.
But if you're planning on buying an R/T and modding the brakes, suspension, and engine, you're better off buying an SRT to begin with.

Also, with the SRT, you belong to an exclusive "club" and, with only about 5,000 cars, you will not see yourself at every corner!
and..you get the SRT Experience.
Yep, I agree. I think this alone makes it worth getting. I remember the days of when I would get the middle of the line sports model of the cars I chose back in the day. I was always kicking myself for it when I saw the top line on the road.
Kinda of what I would have felt like if I had bought a SRT Charger instead of a Challenger...

"Hey hey I want to be a rock star"
The RT does have a few advantages over the SRT. Namely, lifetime warranty and no gas guzzler tax. Also, the 6.1 will be replaced very shortly.
The lifetime warranty is only on the power train. I don't know how much this warranty will be worth. I suspect that to file a claim, you will have to prove that you had all of the scheduled service done and that the car was not modified in any way or abused.
Usually, if something is going to go wrong on the power train, it will happen fairly quickly. A 3-year warranty is not bad.
I am not worying about not waiting for the 6.4. I heard a rumor that it will only be offered in a limited edition Challenger. If that is the case it will be big $$$.
The Rt is a great bang for the buck car its no SRT8 by any fashion.
We will not see the 6.1 die off unless the SRT8 is limited in production which it all ready looks to be.
FYI:The 6.4 is slated as cuda 340 stated for a special edtion due out in a year or so but with the economy in such bad shape I wouldnt hold my breath.

since you want the manual trans, then you cannot get the electronic convenience group or mygig on the R/T. Why they did that, I have not idea.
WHat is with Dodge and crap like this? What does manual transmission have to do with MyGIG or the Elec Conv Grp?? This is the stuff that frustrates me. Why can't they just let us customize the car we want with the things we want, not limit us to these packages and make worthless decisions like this.
I am hoping to get my hands on a sublime Challenger (maybe 2010?) R/T manual but I want the mygig too , fully loaded if I can get it. Hopefully they change this by then or something.
