General DiscussionThis section contains general discussion about the new Dodge Challenger concept. If it does not fit into a more specific area, it probably belongs in here. (Dodge Challenger General Discussion)
I'd like to turn this thread in to something a bit more useful to everyone, too. If someone will take his picture, could anyone possible send me a picture of the exhaust set up from the bottom of the car, on jacks, or something?
I don't have a photo of the inside of a Challenger SRT hood but I saw one in the July 2008 issue of Muscle Cars magazine.
Basically, there are two unpainted (aluminum?) rectangular boxes protruding about 3" inside the hood. They function just to blow cool air over the engine.
The SRT enginners stated the following about the scoops: "The ducts in the hood do not go to the engine intake. They would be a restriction. The scoops have been fully water tested."
on the chargers, the ducts went right over the exhaust manifolds. I dont know that they really did much, but it was a cool thought nonetheless. Now the ducts on the challenger are even smaller, so i highly doubt they affect any thing.

Mike// This is an old pic. of the concept hood underneath. I'm sure it hasn't changed.Click on it to enlarge.
The underside of the 2009 SRT hoods is different. The concept had a functional ram air system with butterfly flaps. the 2008 has two 3" rectangular boxes protruding down from the base of the hood scoops. They are not connected to anything.
