Question for RS, is there any chance of keeping the current rear taillights but adding led's to illuminate the whole section as with the new charger since that tail section isn't gonna be added at all? And did I read correctly from an earlier post that midnight blue Pearl is a option? Any plans to make the rear 1/4 windows roll down.
Any way a new sticky could be started with the real information tabulized with what is happening in 2012? It is hard for me to glean information like 2012 colors etc. without trying to sift through all the pages and much needless noise.
For instance what are the colors for SE, R/T and SRT in 2012 :browsmiley:?
ResumeSpeed, when will the automatic get extra gears? It should be noted even the Avenger now has a 6 speed automatic. Any future plans to produce a 413 or 426 cubic inch Hemi someday? Any chance the Challenger will get the Charger's dash layout prior to 2014?
Last I checked 2013 is scheduled to be the last model year for the current generation, I doubt that they would change transmissions or make major interior changes for one model year. As for a 2nd gen Challenger, have not seen any details yet. No sign of a 413 or 426, but I can tell you that the SRT8 engineers are currently working on "more power", which *might* explain the "low" numbers for the current 6.4L.
Let's keep in tradition of the '11 bashing... "Bla bla bla '12's suck, the colors suck, the 392 isn't that impressive yadda yadda"
Boy I hope they add like another 50 horsepower, maybe then some of these cronies here will pony up some cash and upgrade from their '10 or earlier models

Thanks for the reply Resume Speed. I predict this more power would come from either direct injection or a supercharger or both. Direct injection would help fuel economy and boost power so would an extra gear in the automatic trans. Please tell them not to ruin the look of the car on the second generation car if it will actually be produced. Rather, an evolution of the current design would be good, much like the 2011 Charger vs the 2010. Wife gave me the green light to get a 392, but she said it has to be an auto for her to sign the paperwork. If they made a supercharged Challenger, I probably would not buy it anyway because it would be too expensive. Way TOO much power for a daily driver anyway. We are thinking of getting a 2011 black/silver striped 392 because I like the metallic black and can probably get a pretty good deal on one pretty soon. We'll see. Thanks for bringing a brighter orange back though.
I'd think there'll be a 10-15 HP bump from engine management refinements, if anything... do any of you seriously expect Dodge to SHOCK you with a huge improvement from their big improvement of just one year ago? LMAO (LMAO in a sinister, mocking tone).
It'll be some tweaking, that's it... but it will be factory backed tweaking!!!
This will stir the pot a bit......................Havent you guys noticed how the Maggie will fit right in the way the new 6.4L intake is made. It has that curve to the drivers side exactly like the Maggie does. Factory blower FTW!!!
I had heard the Challenger in current form was going to be around through 2014 from this board. Now ResumeSpeed has said it will be around in its current form only until 2013. This means one of two things. Dodge has sped up its redesign, OR they have decided the car is not a big enough seller to justify a new one and are planning to kill it a year earlier. Which is it?
I'd say a bit of both. It's not selling like hotcakes (for whatever reason) and they likely have something else in the hopper to sort of take its place, they may simply be pushing up the production of its "replacement".
I'm not ticked off about it, but I wish they would have did that for the 2011 instead of playing around. I bought my car with modifying it anyway the internals should have be forged. I don't know what might be out there in 2-3 years when i'm ready to buy again. I will be taking a long hard looking at the Shelby and hopefully whatever Dodge has to offer, but they really need to step it up.
Well i am watching this thread now that there is talk of more power. The only things that will deter me from waiting for a SRT8 challenger with more power is gas milage, price increase and bright white color option. I sure hope they can keep the gas milage around the same numbers with the current 392. Any news ResumeSpeed and again thank you.
Anyone know if the spoiler on the 2012 SRT8 392 will be painted in body color or will it be the same black as used in the 2008s? Also, is it confirmed yet that the steering wheel will change in 2012 (to the same as in the Charger SRT8)?
Anyone know yet when we will be able to get info about some of the small detail changes of the 2012s (like position of the 392 HEMI badges, color of the rear spoiler and whether the SRT8s will get the Charger SRT8 steering wheel)? Like how much of this is really from a 2012?
It it just me or does anyone else on this forum think the 2012 srt8 steering wheel (a la Charger) looks like something you'd see as an optional accessory for a Sony PlayStation. The ginormous horn button reminds me of a fisher-price squeaky toy I had, except that IT was yellow. I love these cars, don't get me wrong, but that monstrosity is the only thing deterring me from ordering a 2012 this minute. (oh, that and about $10k more in the bank account)

Then it would have to be tied to the touch screen package, right? If you made the backup camera standard, then the touch screen package would have to be standard, which would raise the base price. Of course, the backup camera could be an option tied to the touch screen package, similar to other required combinations.
I don't own a Challenger yet, but if and when I buy one, it'll likely be used and at least backup camera-ready. It would be great for me if a backup camera was a factory option because it would likely mean that more used Challengers would have the backup camera and Lockpick-like device installed.
Backup sensors are ugly, like bullet holes.
On the other hand, the 2012 flat bottom steering wheel has the potential to look nice, especially if the double red hashmark Dodge logo appears on it.
