General DiscussionThis section contains general discussion about the new Dodge Challenger concept. If it does not fit into a more specific area, it probably belongs in here. (Dodge Challenger General Discussion)
Re: New Car and Driver issue with Challenger preview
I'm another "old school" guy who owned muscle Mopars back in the 70s. I know cars must be built with today's "creature comforts" in mind, but let's hope D-C doesn't go overboard with the fat, cushy stuff. Come on, that global navigation thing in the new Chargers is a joke! Who needs that in a muscle car?! IMHO, that's yuppie garbage that belongs in a Mercedes or BMW. Let's hope they keep the Challenger clean, functional and affordable. Also, let's hope the whole package is "after market friendly." That's one thing you gotta give to Ford: they've done a great job of partnering with the aftermarket vendors, allowing Mustang owners to upgrade/customize their rides in a multitude of ways. The whole appeal of a muscle car is being able to "hot rod" it at some level.

I am old school too but I have to disagree. It is hard to beat the level of integration and cost savings that factory "technology" can give you compared to aftermarket. I want to see a retro look that is slightly updated but also loaded with modern day technology and drivetrain. The downside to having a real classic musclecar is the lack of technology and conveniences that modern cars have making them simply not as practical in every day use. Unless you are buying to turn it is to a Drag Strip Queen.... Then give me stability control, AWD, radar cruise, navigation, IRS, MP3, satellite, DVD, 7sp Auto, etc.... but give me Retro Looks on the outside and 500+ hp to back it up and I could never be happier. Nor could I do this myself to an original.
Options!! That is the key to making this car so that we can both be happy. They need to offer them from striped to fully loaded and a few spots in between. Just IMHO
Re: New Car and Driver issue with Challenger preview
Well actually the original Challenger was kind of a big car. Actually the Challenger was based off the B-Body Platform (aka Charger, Cornet, Road Runner, etc) you get the idea but, Chrysler shortened the platform. Don't believe me go look up reproduction floor pans for a 70--74 Dodge Challenger. You'll see they are the same as the 71-74 B-Body Cars.

Bob,
Heck, while you're at it, just go ahead and write one out to me too (California Association for the Socially Handicapped)...or just make it out to CASH if you wish, and then just hand it over to your Dodge dealer as a down-payment on one for me as well.
