New Challenger

Hi All,

I ordered my 2009 Challenger R/T 3 weeks ago and it's in "C' status. Can anyone tell me how long it will take to receive the car based on anyones experience?

Thanks!

Re: New Challenger

Many of us ordered our 09 srt8's on May 12th, when they opened up the order banks, and are just starting to get their srts. I'm currently in D, but hope to move shortly. SE's and RT's were built first, and rt's continue to build with more speed than the srts. Things are starting to move now due to various hold ups, so hopefully you'll move along soon. It all depends on the allocations that your dealer has as well. There should be a similar thread with order dates/delivery somewhere. Good luck!!

Re: New Challenger

I put my money down 2 weeks ago on a inbound R/T six speed that the dealer ordered for stock on May 15th ,the dealer faxed me the build sheet, the car has been in D status for at least 2 weeks, still no movement, on the registery I see cars ordered later than mine with much higher vin numbers showing delivered already ...do they build them in order?

Re: New Challenger

Te cars aren't built in the order in which the orders are placed.

The 28J package is on hold so those orders aren't even being processed. Other options may also be on hold for quality control purposes, or cars with specific options are all being processed and built in groups based on options.

And as stated above, SRTs are going to take longer because they might not be building SRTs at any given period.

SE or R/T models with few options (very base 'plain-jane' types) will be built quicker because the likelyhood of a quality hold is minimal.

Hope that helps.

Do we know why the 28J is on hold yet?

The truth is that nobody knows.....the production schedule seems to have little logic, if any. My 6 speed R/T was ordered in mid-June. It was built in late September after sitting in C status for 2+ months. Then it sat in JS "shipped to storage" for 18 days before the Zone Manager called Brampton and "asked" them to "free" my Challenger. It is now supposed to be delivered Wednesday.... There are Challengers that were ordered a month before mine that still aren't built. There are Challengers ordered 6 weeks after mine that were delivered to their owners 1 month ago... so.......alot may depend on your dealer's allocation.... You can ask the experts (your Dealer, Zone Manager, Employees at Brampton, our site Moderators) and hopefully you will get a better answer. This is just my experience with the process. I can tell you one thing. It is worth the wait. I almost cancelled my order to buy aShelby GT 500 out of frustration with the process. Instead, I bought a used '06 Charger R/T from my Dodge dealer and will trade that back (at full price paid) when my Challenger arrives. They treated me well because they knew I couldn't wait any longer for a car. Enjoy your Challenger, but be prepared to be patient.

Ordered a 2009 SRT on May 16, 2008. Went to D status on Sept. 21. Still in D. Hope to move to D1 soon!
