New Viper...

So with the new, more powerful Viper (600hp), does this leave more room for a badder Challenger?

I agree. I think that this opens the door for the 2009 6.4 HEMI "HO" Challenger or 'Cuda.

Re: New Viper...

Hopefully!

I was also reading that the new vette is supposed to have 650 hp. So the 'vette will still be king. Sucks.

Re: New Viper...

Well, there seems to be no end in sight for the horsepower wars. Good for us. Bad for insurance rates.

Hopefully the Dodge boys did more than just up the power (I know they did, on paper). The Vette has been outhandling and outclassing the Viper for a while. I know Dodge hung their hat on the "brute force, American muscle, it's more satisfying if it's challenging to drive" idea. But it needs a little refinement to compete.

Don't get me wrong. I'd take a Viper over a Vette any day, regardless (and my brother has a Viper - 2002). But I'm a Mopar guy. Most people don't think that way.

As long as all the companies find ways to keep the cost down as well. As seen by the end of the Ford GT. Great car, just hard to convince the average person to lay down 6 figures for a Ford.

In the end, they had to bump the Viper to compete, and it DOES leave room for a nice Challenger SRT / AAR / Whatever option. Something in the 500 range to compete with the high-end 'Stang and the Camaro when it hits.

Fun fun fun.
