The next Gen.

One thing I like to see here on this forum is all the young guys who know a damn good thing when they see it.
Isnt it refeshing to know not all young people drive rice and many now days have a new found appretitation for such heritage like what is incorperated into the new Challenger!

All you young guys listen up!

Its a great honor to have you carry on this torch for us decades into the future, do us proud!
Keep looking America is still out there!

Re: The next Gen.

Funny that you posted this. My little brother really was dead set on an old Ferrari for his 1st real car he would buy. I had to take him somewhere yesterday and he asked why I like muscle cars. About that time some guy in a new VW golf GTI pulled up and well I showed him what a good ol fashioned V8 can do in a straight line against a car. HE NEARLY CRAPPED HIS PANTS! The tires broke loose going from 1-2 then again from 2-3. After he calmed down he was dead set on a muscle car. He just kept saying yea Ferraris look really cool, but dang that was awesome. For the last day he just keeps asking about all the different muscle cars.

Re: The next Gen.

Now that is cool you have influenced him the right way.Tradition is a very big part of that learning curve and as long as they don't fall for all the hype out there they will be way ahead of the disposable car buying market.
Good job dad I hope my kid follows my lead as well it looks like a safe bet so far but rice has a way of really hooking these kids on cheap and fast and that isn't always the most important thing to consider when one drives a car that expresses their personality.

Buy American!!
We owe it to our kids to set the example of right and wrong and what market share to support. The auto industry built this country lets not abandon them now especially when they are pumping out some damn quality rides. We own an import hybrid its my wifes company car and you know what it is not allowed in my garage thats how hard core I am about this issue of support for the big 3.

Re: The next Gen.

Damn good big brother!
Let him know most Ferrari's need a total engine rebuild at every 15K and its not cheap...

Keep it up don't let him slip to the dark side.lol.
Funny I remember my first ride in a 71 cuda my uncle put a 20 dollar bill on the dash and said if I could grab it it was mine then he hit the gas and I just sank into my seat and the g's wouldn't let me get close to that 20 dollar bill for all the tea in China.
That is what memories are made of times when the older gen really shows you what is up and doesn't hold back, its the day I feel I really grew into a car guy,but to be honest what really got me going was my dads 64 stingray I used to ride in the spare tire area when he'd run rallies back in the late 60's.

Ill never forget the cubby hole...That didnt sound right, lol.

...I loved cars from the time I could walk and talk....as a young kid, ny next door neighbor had a really hot 57 Chevy....lotsa chrome, Turquoise, loud....it really excited me every time I saw him drive it around the block...a few years later he bought a new 63 Stingray and he took my dad and I a ride in it one afternoon....he romped it around the neighborhood with me in the back, crouched like a puppy, but what a ride that was....I still remember EVERY sight and sound 45 years later....I was on a mission to own a Vette from the time I could drive until I owned my first one...my first vette was a red 61 with a blown engine...since the first one I have owned lots of Vettes, new and vintage, but I have never had as much fun as that first Vette ride, crouched in the "cubby hole"

...I just sold an 04 Vette vert. today, the new owners are young and thrilled with the purchase...it's still like new, low miles and a real beautiful car....hope they have as much fun with it as I have

Re: The next Gen.

Just thought of something else. Some family friends son (Hes around 2 i think) was outside when I was showing them the mustang when I had just gotten it. I fired that thing up and his face lit up, it was awesome! I put the little guy on my lap and let him move the wheel while I revved the engine and all he could say was "I in a race car" over and over and he had this big ol smile on his face the whole time! Every time I go over there he has to come outside and sit in the car.

Re: The next Gen.

LOL,How Cool is that!
Killer superbird,you are the king!
The old cubby hole was a place that may have spawned many a car guys future...Man I'm glad I shared that story with you guys I had no idea.
I thought I was just a insane kid with insane parents but it was the norm back then wasn't it to push the envelope a bit.
I had the same experience and it is etched in my mind like it was carved in stone as well!
The symmetry here on this forum is what is worth the experience too me just to know all you die hards are still out there some memories may have faded a bit but it will never die will it.
How did you do it !
I just cant get myself to sell my vette I think I'll have it till I die.

Funny I just don't see whats the big deal about the new vette since the c5 has been touted as the best built vette to date, plus from the front the new vette looks like my aunt smiling when shes drunk.
I just don't care for the way they changed the car lS2 or not I am not biting yet.
I may go viper since the vette actually looks like one now and I have a c5 already but that is for another day when the wife settles down a-bit when it comes to my car Jone's..
if you don't mind me asking what was your favorite vette you owned?

Re: The next Gen.

tis the stories I like to read ! keep it up guys !

my son has been around my Cobra since he's 5 y.o. - he's first tasted acceleration from his toddler seat in back - telling me Dad chase that car , pass that one lol when he was 8 y.o. I let him turn the key to start the DOHC 32 Valves to the sound of them Bassani X-Pipe & Flowmasters American Thunder (2 chambers) - Pure American Muscle Car sound !! and let him rip some tunes with da pedal heheh ..... we've shot some videos where I film him getting in da Cobra behind the steering (windows tinted closed)and close the door , stop camera (on tripod) , then I get in behind the steering , mom restarts the camera and films us shred a couple of mm's of tire thread doing burn-outs and 360's left , then right without stopping and coming inches from the camera then until sooo much white smoke we can't see the car , then film all them tire marks ...... been plenty of times to drag racing with him sitting behind , and one time he's been in a 2005 Mustang GT with helmet on sitting in back and I in passenger to an AutoCross between cones - he's remembered that ride even though he couldn't see much (with full face helmet on sitting low in back) - he's loved the enrgy of them G forces left/right with his head bobing the same way lol - heck I myself remember the first lap - seeing them orange cones turn blurry hahahahaha

these are better times he's had than I as a lad compared - just plainly sitting in a Boss 302 '70 , or having an influencial say in my mom's boyfriend's '74 Plymouth Satellite purchase ..... been a Mopar , Stang , Muscle Car junky since - I was 7 y.o. !

I thought I'd add one of many :
