General DiscussionThis section contains general discussion about the new Dodge Challenger concept. If it does not fit into a more specific area, it probably belongs in here. (Dodge Challenger General Discussion)
I looked at the new vettes, but I just couldn't do it. Just didn't fit me I like the car but something just wasn't right. Another reason was when I got in a new Z06 I looked retarded getting outta the thing! somehow my knee just wouldn't bend the right way.

LOL,How Cool is that!
Killer superbird,you are the king!
The old cubby hole was a place that may have spawned many a car guys future...Man I'm glad I shared that story with you guys I had no idea.
I thought I was just a insane kid with insane parents but it was the norm back then wasn't it to push the envelope a bit.
I had the same experience and it is etched in my mind like it was carved in stone as well!
The symmetry here on this forum is what is worth the experience too me just to know all you die hards are still out there some memories may have faded a bit but it will never die will it.
How did you do it !
I just cant get myself to sell my vette I think I'll have it till I die.
Funny I just don't see whats the big deal about the new vette since the c5 has been touted as the best built vette to date, plus from the front the new vette looks like my aunt smiling when shes drunk.
I just don't care for the way they changed the car lS2 or not I am not biting yet.
I may go viper since the vette actually looks like one now and I have a c5 already but that is for another day when the wife settles down a-bit when it comes to my car Jone's..
if you don't mind me asking what was your favorite vette you owned?
...the C5 Vette is a great car....plenty of room for us older dogs....big trunk, great vacation car....also the most economical car I own...I have owned a lot of Vipers, all generations, still have some of those too...the Vette is more user friendly than a Viper on a daily basis
...the C6 has never been a favorite of mine...I don't even want a new one to replace the one I am selling, they just don't thrill me, NOT LIKE THE CHALLENGER........
1st Vette was a red/blk/blk '61...blown engine 4 spd....I sat in the car in the driveway (after dark ) just imagining what it would be like to drive it when the engine was built...car was always a mechanical a$$hole, so I sold it
then a white /blk/blk '62...kept it a few years, perfect car
64 Vette cp, blue/blk...one owner, low mile original...sold it to buy something else
78 Pace Vette L-82/AT...bought it at a rummage sale, sold it a few months later to a Vette collector
84...piece of junk, bought it from a destitute stripper/dancer....sold it to a 14 year old kid as his 1st car
90 Indy track car Yelo/blk/blk...I think there were like 30 made(maybe more, I forget)...put 30K miles on it....pink INDY letters on the door looked kinda gay, but it was a nice car
95 Purple/Gray/gray vert....loved the color...had a hardtop with it too...wife hated the car, said it looked like a grape popsicle
2000 Yelo/blk/blk vert
2001 Yelo/blk/blk vert, turned it into a 1953 C5....my wifes car
2003 50th Anni vert...put alot of miles on it and sold it..
2004 Mag Red/tan/tan vert....just sold it
1958 Fuelie, white/silver cove/red int....58 Vettes are my favorite vintage Vette
It takes some practice and a good pull on the wheel to get out of the thing some times you should see my Dad when I let him drive it every now and then we have to use a stretcher to get him in the car, lollllllllllllllll.
Its a cool car but if not done right you look like Dracula emerging from his coffin just getting out of the thing.
Its not an easy car to get out of or into for that matter thank god your not wearing a skirt!
Ive seen many women trying this and its quite a embarrassing show when they are wearing a skirt its a damn fun time when your fueling up and have nothing to really do but stare then look away trying to be polite!
Oh man, thats so funny, but so true.
I'm still laughing!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ROTFL LOL !!!!!!

Well that makes me feel a little better! I was sitting there thinking I'm young, in descent shape this shouldn't be that hard.
...a few years ago, I had a friend come over to look at a Prowler I owned....he wanted to buy one REALLY bad, but he is too tall and WAY TOO FAT to get in one...he tried to get in the car normally, that didn't work....then tried to sit in it sideways, that didn't work either....finally he was in the driveway on his knees wriggling in the car like a snake(a really fat snake)....he finally got in but couldn't get the steering wheel up high enough so he could breathe....thought I was going to have to call the "jaws of life" and have him cut out of the car....took us both pushing and pulling to pop him out of the drivers seat....I guess if he loses a couple hundred pounds or slathers himself in Vasoline he could buy one....
The 58 fuelie has to be the pinnacle for any vette guy to own!
I'm in the presence of greatness what a great history you have had with so many great cars.
I don't have a jealous bone in my body but I think I just found one!
Damn glad to have met you here thank you for that nice tour thru history and showing us your babies and sharing your story with us as well!
Isn't it funny the challenger has got us all by the toe The Dodge Boys really did something right didn't they.Ive never been pumped about a car like this in decades.
However the early Vipers always have a spot in my heart as well I like the simple nature of the car but your right the vette/C5 is very suitable for everyday driving as the viper is a little hairy to say the least!
The one thing that sold me on the C5 was you can toss the golf clubs in the C5 and have room left over for your buddies clubs as well, you cant beat that with a stick.
Thank you for sharing this with us all I need to scrape my jaw off the floor.
Well see you at he Mopar nationals soon I hope next year if possible.
Very cool history,
Keep on keepin on !

I love the '96 Viper GTS in Blue / Wht Stripes - it's a very blood boiling rad ride !
I sat one time in one and freaked how the A-Pillar is sooo close to your head - I found myself claustrophobic somewhat ... but I think I would get used to it on purpose heheh

...I have been to the MOPAR Nats every year since 1983,
...the last few years I have taken a Viper and parked with the Ohio VCA under their tent, great group of guys/gals
...for many years I took vintage MOPARS, mostly Daytonas and Superbirds.....also took lots of T/A Challengers (my favorite MOPAR) and AAR CUDAs thru the years...for several years the Paddock used my cars for display on the midway....they have asked to use 2 of my T/A Challengers again this year to display under their tent...hope to see ya there
