I think the best reasoning behind perhaps putting a lower priced V6 model out there would be to help keep sticker prices in the realm of the sane for the V8 models. As much as I like the idea of the Challenger staying an "untainted" V8 only car, I think in the long run it could make these cars far too expensive to be feasible for the average Joe that wants one (like me).
Hopefully the arrival of the new Camaro, along with the proposed new SE mustangs will saturate the current pony car market enough to keep down asking prices on dealership lots when the Challengers finally roll out.
As far as the V6 option being a stategy for getting the youngsters out of their imports........forget it. That's about as likely to happen as Toyota getting me out of my GT into a Camry.
