I don't know which was harder to watch: The car being crashed or seeing the dummy's left foot removed from the leg to get the dummy our of the car. You have to figure if they cut his left foot off, a human foot is never going to remain intact. Ouch. Thanks for posting.
Offset crashes are one of the toughest to design against. In reality few crashes will have such a small offset, so the risk to your foot is pretty small.
They have to for proof that is passes government standards for crash worthiness. Every car company does it for all the models they produce. You can find a crash test for many different cars on Youtube.
It appears if that was a human in that wreck they'd live to buy another Challenger. I'll gladly watch those tests knowing it makes us and our families be able to survive some nasty wrecks.
A good commercial for the Challenger would be showing Gas Monkey trying to crush their Challenger with the monster truck. Practically an epic failure on the part of the monster truck.
