Re: Paying at the Pump...

Its 4.00 a gallon here and thats 87 regular!!!!!!

Its not like we haven't seen this coming now for about 2 years now gas will be at 7.00 per gallon easily by 2010.
This really sucks but we had seen this all coming months ago and opted for a gas guzzler for many other reasons but cost to operate it.
Lets not forget, this will be the last of the great muscle cars out of Detroit and may be well worth the pain of owning it in 20 years from now I sure hope so.
This all being said, its a crying same what is happening its 1975 all over again, history repeating is never a good thing.

Ill start really screaming at 6.00-7.00 a gallon man I hope this isnt the case but it sure seems to be unfolding daily dosnt it.

Re: Paying at the Pump...

The Energy Administration stated today that the average American consumes 1-2 gallons of gasoline per day!

When you get your Challenger, will you be over or under this average?

Thats a killer Kelsey. I fill up for about $70 and get anywhere from 350-400 miles on a tank. Which if you figure it up, we are both getting about 5.5 miles to $1 lol

I have to retract that statement and lower that number LOL.......
Now that it's summer here, 90F+ everyday, I'm doing a little worse. I'm getting about 230-250 miles per tank, but I've been a little more lead footed lately.

Re: Paying at the Pump...

I have stopped watching the final bill @ the pump. Figure I am going to pay whatever it costs. I do tend to watch the trend of $ per gallon though. But I pretty much already pay top dollar. (VTech Shell gas pretty much exclusively)

I justify the Challenger as payback for not driving a big SUV all my life. Time to use up my saved energy credits!

Re: Paying at the Pump...

Call me an optimist but I think oil will come down pretty soon. Many think that it's a commodity bubble about to burst and oil will be under US$100/barrel soon. Will gasoline come down with it? I dunno.

Let's hope the new "Cap and Trade" garbage that the Washingtonistas are pushing gets killed. They can turn coal to liquid you know - and as Larry Kudlow says the US is the Saudi Arabia of coal. ;-)

Anyway, good luck to us all. Good thing for me is that I have a 2000 Chevy Tracker with a 2.0L 4 banger as a daily beater, which on it's original sticker says it gets like 23/25 mpg. It's a rebranded Suzuki Vitara - Canadian built, with a Suzuki motor.

Re: Paying at the Pump...

You can always hedge yourself against oil prices going up buy buying stock in Energy Ishares or something along that line.

So if the price of oil goes up, you make money on your investment and pay more @ the pump. If it goes down, you lose on your investment but pay less @ the pump...

I know this isn't a stock board, but I wish I bought Suncor Energy back when it was ~$30/share. It went to about $130 and just split. That's a Canadian tar sands stock - they get oil from tar sands up in Canada.

I had a coal trust that just sat there giving me a dividend. Owned it for over a year. I sold it to get something else and wouldn't you know it more than doubled since? I guess I lack the touch.

Then there is that Brazilian company that has that new oil discovery off their coast. Petrobras. That looks to more than double. Wish I had the dough to throw at that.
