Re: Paying at the Pump...

The mix make's a big difference and in winter months the mpg drops drastically compared to the summer blend.

Re: Paying at the Pump...

That's kinda strange, I've always had my cars do better in the winter than in summer. Winter is only in the high 30s on a bad day. It's been over 100 here the last few days, this sucks!

I might be more aggressive in the heat LOL.

Re: Paying at the Pump...

I'm not mechanical in any way at all, so this might sound really dumb.

but beyond a certain point as the air heats up and thins out, doesn't it mess with the mixture and then that wouldn't surprise me that mileage went down when it got really hot.... like in the 100's.

and just to be clear, thats 100F in the states and not 100C in canada. 'cause at 100C you've got a whole new set of problems!! LOL

Re: Paying at the Pump...

Yup 100F. I am in Arkansas I don't think we've actually heard of the metric system yet lol.

I'm just stating an observation, and the hotter the air going in the worse mileage should be. That's the way I always figured it.

In a way, the hotter air should cause worse mileage but it doesnt. Every winter, ive noticed my mileage drops atleast 1mpg. I dont have the exact science behind why it does this, but it has been proven that winters are harder on gas.

100f in Arkansas? Thats hotter than here, and we are further south lol. Our heat index is well over 100 though. We have some of the worst humidity in the US lol. we usually stay around 95-100% humidity all year

Re: Paying at the Pump...

Ya I live in the strangest place for weather. This winter we'd get some days that it was in the 60s Monday and 30s Tuesday and back up in the 60s by the end of the week. The only thing consistent is the summers, hot and humid. I saw 102f on the bank this afternoon. The only good thing is every form of plant will die in a few weeks which means no more lawn care!
