Re: Petition for Hemi Orange option in 09 SRT

If they wanted the 2008 Challenger to be truly unique, why are they offering Hemi-Orange in the 2009 R/T? Just retire the color!

Re: Petition for Hemi Orange option in 09 SRT

Like I said - it is not COLOR that will make the SRT unique ... rather ... it is everything it stands for down to it's last unique feature and it's OWN tagged # ...... compared to another SRT of another year AND of an R/T of the same year .... it's simple to understand isn't it !?

Re: Petition for Hemi Orange option in 09 SRT

I just assumed they would have retired the color all together, but that would be to smart or easy on Dodge's part. Very dumb to keep the color, but deny those who would pay a premium for the car, the main color that they want!

Add my name to the petition!

Not to mention, the removal of the carbon fiber stripes, I want that as well, but understand that it is only for 2008 SRT-8. I can repsect that, they don't need the "Hemi" Orange too.

Re: Petition for Hemi Orange option in 09 SRT

I think it's great that they still have Hemi orange for 2009.
Not all of us are planning on buying an SRT8, and offering a high impact color for the R/T is just what some of us have wanted.

Many buyers, myself included didn't even consider the '08 because it's lack of a manual transmission.

Why are there so many whiners on this board?
I can see why you'd want Hemi orange on an '09 SRT, but suggesting that since you can't get it, you shouldn't be able to get it on an R/T either?
That's just being trite.

Re: Petition for Hemi Orange option in 09 SRT

I understand what you are saying Yuri and like you I am not considering the 2008 because of the lack of a manual.

With that said, the Hemi Orange is a Hemi...R/T and SRT thing as they both have Hemis. I want a black one, but it is stupid to discontinue a color on the SRT "in order to protect the color" and offer it on a lower model. In my opinion, that makes it less valuable. Instead, allow both the R/T and the SRT to retain Hemi Orange then, not just the R/T.

Seems like a plan on Dodge's part that wasn't properly thought out. Retire completely, or not at all.

Re: Petition for Hemi Orange option in 09 SRT

I picked this up on RLD from a poster :

''I would like to help clear things up about how cars are painted in a factory. First of all guns are not used the type of equipment used to apply paint to the body is done either by electrostatic bells or by a robot using a robobell applicator. Most production is random. Sure there my be more silver cars painted on one day then say black ones but it just depends on build sheets. Color changes can be done in a matter of seconds usually under 10 seconds. The plant has a paint kitchen with pumps designated for each color with circulation lines moving the paint to the application equipment. All automotive paint now is two componet type and the catalist is added to the color (resin)at the applicator via a 2-K system. It is very expensive to have a bunch of colors because of the equipment involved like pumps, circulation lines (thousands of feet) filtration ect… If they are building other cars at brampton like the 300 and charger ect.. which comes in chryslers standard colors like silvers reds blacks they don’t have a bunch of extra equipment to add colors. Keep in mind most car plants don’t build every peace of the car they have satelite plants that build parts like facias,
mirrors, spoilers ect.. and all those plants would have the same type set up to paint those parts. My guess is this is why colors may be phased in at different times of the year. I install industrial finishing equipment for a living and its a very complex system to paint cars with some plants making up 600 hundred units per day.''

Despite it complexity and technological prowess , one thing negative electrostatic process has brought to paint that cheapens it esthetically - is the Orange Peel texture its finish procures . Man I hate that esp. on a 30K+ car ! I know that when I have my cars painted - I have them wet sanded to obtain that baby's ass smooth finish
