plz help...newbie here...

ok so i got a bunch of questions...i have been looking on buying the 2008 dodge charger srt8 next march if its out by then but i have been seeing this new challenger and wow...i jus really need to find out as much about it as i can...like how much will it be approx.
-what is the engine like 6.1L V8,6.4L V8? hp?
-automatic or standard?
-SRT8 version?
-functional hood scoops?
-production date?? when it will hit the dealers?
-how many will be made?

i dont know what i have missed but thats all i can think of...i just saw a video of it on you tube and i love the interior and the whole thing i dont know if i should get this or the charger???

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks alot...

Dodge has kept all of us in the dark. Based on rumors, this is what we think we know (subject to change):

• The 2008 production model will appear in the Feb. 8, 2008 Chicago Auto Show (see: http://www.dodgechallengercountdown.com/
• Will hit dealers in March 2008. Expect a BIG mark-up.
• Around 30,000 will be built the first year.
• Both 5.7 and 6.1 Hemi may be offered.
• 6-speed Viper manual only.
• May have functional hood scoops (the SRT Charger does not, however).

What is the purpose of a non-functional hood scoop? I am always amazed at this one. Why not just put drag slicks,wheelwell tubs, and a parachute on an 82 k-car?

A non-functional : I guess to intimidate non-knowers !! As for an '82 K-car..yeah and have a life size Lee Ioccoca man-e-kin seatbelted to the passenger seat ! !!!!! !!

Don't bail out yet. Nothing is official.

However, if the rumors are true, you may want to wait until the 2009 models come out. There may be more model/engine options, better price, and less new model "bugs."

Also, many of the SRT Charger owners are purchasing CAI units to make their hood scoops functional (instead of just cooling the engine).

P.S. I have a chain saw and might be willing to make any Non-functional intakes become functional

With a chain saw you could start a business installing shaker hood kits in Challengers and Chargers!

the hood scoop on the 07 charger srt8 is functional

By not being "functional" I mean that it is not a sealed ram-air setup, like the Challenger concept car.

I do not won an SRT Charger, but on the chargerforums website they state the following: "The SRT hood directs the air over the heads to keep the engine cool."
