The current 5.7 gets replaced with the all-new VCT 5.7 starting in the 2009 model year. The Challenger R/T will have the new 5.7, as will the Grand Cherokee, Commander, Ram etc. The current 6.1L will still be around for awhile, all 2009 SRT8 models will still have it.

Re: Production Dodge Challenger Pics

Got tired of waiting for the Challenger, so ordered a Charger SRT yesterday. But, I WILL trade it on the Challenger SRT when it comes out, or soon after. That car is juuuust right. Kinda like when you had a fine meal, layed back and said, "Man, that hit the spot". Same thing.

You'll really love that 6.1! I took my fathers SRT Magnum to run some errands and just wanted to see what it really had and MY GAWD! Maybe its time to rebuild the 383 in the Road Runner!

Re: Production Dodge Challenger Pics

I like the front and back better than the concept. I was gonna wait till year two or three anyway so I'm not dissapointed about the lack of a six speed in year one.

Re: Production Dodge Challenger Pics

It seems that the major opinion is that the back end looks better now.
I have to disagree. I thought that the concept tail was f-ing brilliant. It was unlike almost anything i had ever seen. I would love to have that on my Challenger. Do you think they may offer that as an After Market add-on? How tough do you think it would be to get that set up?
I do agree that front looks tons better though.

In this article it says the srt-8 will be $38K. Time will tell I guess. It also says that the 2009 version will be offered with a T56 six-speed.

Re: Production Dodge Challenger Pics

Thats pretty cool. I have heard that it will be Manual with autostick no manuals until year two and that they will offer a six speed. 9depending on what article you read)It would be a shame for this car to not come with a six speed manual at least as an option.

Well, you just might get that in your Challenger you're awarded. I like it lots though; as it pays tribute to the original first !!! Like respect ? The Concept's tail set-up is real good too ; so the 1970 image design is the first logical choice ! ! I wouldn't like to see aftermarket do that plus it'd be patent issues ! May be better to wait, see yours !
