R/T vs SRT

We have all discussed the pros and cons of buying an R/T over an SRT (e.g., cost, insurance, mileage, etc.). Now that the first performance numbers have been posted, are any of the SRT buyers having second thoughts?

R/T, SRT
0-30 mph 2.5 sec., 2.5 sec.
0-45 mph 4.0, 4.0
0-60 mph 5.9, 5.5
0-75 mph 8.4, 7.9
1/4 mile 14.1@100.8, 13.8@103.0
shalom 62.4 mph, 66 mph
60-0 braking 126 feet, 119 feet

Re: R/T vs SRT

NOPE! I have had a 5.7 and now have two 6.1's, no comparison. Start adding up the cost of Brembo brakes, suspension pieces, 20" wheels and another 60+ hp and the SRT is still a bargain.

Re: R/T vs SRT

...are any of the SRT buyers having second thoughts?
I think the beauty of this car is that it can make many different people happy at many different levels.

I can't imagine anybody having second thoughts about their SRT.

I can't imagine anybody not being happy with the potential of their R/T.
(I know I can't wait for mine!)

I can imagine a lot of people excited about the value of their SE.

Now, would anybody like some fresh Hemi Orange Kool-Aid?

Re: R/T vs SRT

Second Thoughts...heck no! Its easy for me to see where the extra cash is going. I have had R/T Challengers when I was younger & they are a killer car & so is the new one, but this time Im getting the BADBOY! I have never had a big block in a Challenger & I have always wanted one! I been lookin at the thred like this in the R/T section and the R/T fits alot of folks needs. Im not buying my SRT as an investment (it would be a poor one I think) but it is going to be mostly a garage queen/weekend car....If I were going to be raceing alot and doing a bunch of mods Id buy the R/T. Im sure Ill be picking up an R/T anyway later on, unless they come out with a 'Cuda which Id rather have. I may be turning a R/T into a 'Cuda. I looked at the R/T hard before I put my order in, and optioned out that puppy was pretty high so I went SRT. As said, Ill be picking up a plain jane R/T later on.

Re: R/T vs SRT

Had a Charger r/t, traded it in on the srt.... not even the same car... now I'm trading my charger srt in on a challenger srt... no second thoughts... would never be happy with the r/t.... I think its the grin you get from the other guy you meet driving by you and they know theirs is better than yours.... hate that look... srt or nothing...

Re: R/T vs SRT

There is really no comparison. The SRT is much more prestine, and the performance goes way beyond 0-60. Anything above 80mph the r/t has no chance. The brembos and suspension speak for themselves. Thats about $6k or more in mods alone. If it were not in my budget, i would definately get the R/T without a second though. Both are great cars, its just like comparing the honda civic to a mustang gt. Not really the same class

Re: R/T vs SRT

Go watch the Edmunds R/T and SRT test videos back to back. The 6.1 roars, while the 5.7 sounds much tamer. I had ordered the R/T, but canceled in favor of the SRT. If you're on the fence, I'd get the SRT and not regret it later.

Re: R/T vs SRT

The SRT is a phenomenal over all performance package for the money spent, there should not be any regrets what so ever.

Re: R/T vs SRT

If I weren't on a "35 and under" budget, I'd get the SRT. At the moment I have an R/T ordered. Only thing about that is, I test drove the SRT8 Charger.. Am I going to be let down completely, or will there only be a mild difference? Should I cancel the Chally order and get the 06 SRT8? It's got 26k on the clock is my only issue..and it's an automatic, but that doesn't seem to be a problem for the SRT's. On top of that they only want 30,000 even for it. :P Decisions!
