General Challenger DiscussionThis section contains general discussion about the Dodge Challenger. If it does not fit into a more specific area, it probably belongs in here. (Dodge Challenger General Discussion)
I had my 2010 dwb parked in a lot today and another dwb with manufacturer plates pulled up. I got to talking to the guy and asked if his headliner was drooping (as we've discussed) and I asked him what year it was he smiled & said "it's a 2011" I asked him if he was bs'ing and he seriously said "no". I looked closer at the car and it had electronic boxes connected to the underside etc. As we talked he said it's exactly the same as my 2010. We got to talking and it turned out he was a testing engineer for Chrysler. We talked more and got to talking about the engines (forgive me Im not a gearhead so didn't understand EVERYTHING he was saying) he said the 5.7 v 6.1 isn't that much of a difference but the 6.1 will get the 5.7 on the top end. Now the interesting thing was when I asked about the 6.4 he got a wicked smile on his face and said "we're making them and that's the one you want". He went into detail about vvt and the cams but all I got out of the science talk is that they are basing the 6.4 on the same principles as the 5.7 (mechanically speaking). So as I said Im no engine/gearhead but the way I understood it is that they took the same engineering principles from the 5.7 and they are applying it to the 6.4. He was in a hurry and I told him I would see him around. So next time I see him Ill try and get more infofor the troop.

Thanks, that was a good little talk. Now, the next time you talk to him, see if they might need another Test Driver/engineer ! Although I'm no engineer, I feel I could help out in some way, as I have high standards and a penchant for detail; and would be happy and willing to drive them Challengers around...even cross country !! If said 'test engineer needs a reference, you may tell him code-named -Ragamuffin.from Challengertalk.com !!!

Reason: emoticon deletion for better chance at employment
Did you get his business card? That's the first question to ask. Then ask about the car.

Hmm. Thats interesting, it looks like that may mean aftermarket is gonna be a little behind on these engines as opposed to going with the 6.1 as a base. Haha, I'm goin cross country in april in my challenger too, itd sure be nice to use one of their cars to do so. Tell him to look me up on here hahahaha.
