Not everyone has the same tastes in exhausts, there are some people that love their resonator delete and swear that there's no drone or that the drone doesn't bother them and it was the best thing they've done.
I appreciate that you weren't satisfied with the stock exhaust and am happy that you found something that you like, but to say that you don't know how anyone could be happy with the stock exhaust, etc comes across as a bit of an insult to folks that like their stock exhaust just fine. "Oh, you like your stock exhaust? Bah, it's the stock exhaust. What's to like?"
Time and time again, Zoomers has been rated as the best sounding exhaust for the Challenger.
I'm sure Justin Bieber's music has been rated highly as well, but I don't let ratings dictate what I like. I've heard Zoomers multiple times, I'm sure at one point there were more people in certain circles with Zoomers than anything else...and they all sounded alike. Awesome, get the same exhaust and be part of the "it crowd."
No thanks. I liked the way the Solo + headers sounded on my 2011 way better than Zoomers.
The only reason most people pledge allegiance to the 2015 setup is because they are afraid to touch it.
Afraid? It's not fragile or scary. There's nothing to be concerned about other than installing a system that's not compatible with the AES valves and that requires hacking to prevent a CEL. People aren't scared of that, they just don't want to have to hack their cars to work with an incompatible aftermarket exhaust. You can't fault them for that.
I'd never go back. As more 2015 cars get together at meets, they will realize they still have a Challenger that sounds "stock". That will be ok for some people, but not me. You rationalize and settle when you don't have many easy options.
Thanks for telling us what we do and why.
If I wanted an aftermarket exhaust then I'd install another Solo, which is compatible with the AES. Piece of cake and an awesome price for an awesome exhaust.
As I've said before... people drop 3k on wheels just for looks. 1k for sound is nothing if it makes you unique.
You're not unique when you install something that tons of other people have installed.
As with all new things... people are just afraid to touch it. That will change eventually and more people will replace the stock setup.
Unless, I don't know, they LIKE the stock exhaust. I know, it's shocking to think that anyone could like "stock" anything. That's crazy talk, they're probably just scared of breaking something by changing it. Yeah...that's it...
In case you couldn't tell, it rubs me the wrong way when someone tries to tell me my thoughts or opinions about something of mine are "wrong" or that I'm kidding myself about how it really sounds or if I'm trying to rationalize something.
Please, don't make assumptions about other people. I know you weren't referring specifically to me, but you're making generalizations about an entire group of people of which I am one and you're making assumptions about what we think (or trying to tell us that we should be thinking something different).
I agree with this. When I got my Scat Pack I knew right away I'd have to replace the exhaust. Personally I can't believe how satisfied people are with the stock set up.
Personally, I can't believe how satisfied people are with Sublime. I mean...come on...green? Really? How could anyone like that?
You really should sell it and get B5 instead.
See, it's not nice to pick on other peoples' opinions. You're more than welcome to be satisfied or dissatisfied with any of your own choices, that's the great thing about being individuals. We all like different things.
I had Zoomers on an RT and loved it. I would have put Zoomers on the Scat Pack too but I liked Solo Performance's solutions for the active exhaust valves better than the Zoomers solution (or lack thereof).
I'd love to hear how it sounds, I loved the Solo that I had on my '11 and would be interested in hearing how it sounds on an SP. Any pics of how the AES valves are installed would be great, too.
