Re: Sigh... Monday! Poor car, I want to drive you!

Can't bring myself to store the car and pay the car note each month for it to sit. That and I don't want the hassle of potentially spending thousands on repairing a beater that breaks down.

I'll make it work

Re: Sigh... Monday! Poor car, I want to drive you!

Be cool its not supposed to get this cold again for weeks.
I like the first few snows it cleans all the idiots off the roads what is it with people that have to do 80mph when there is snow falling and traffic is doing 50MPH..

Thursday we see mid 50's...Hang in there..Over here on the west coast we have lake effect and clouds till March it is so dman depressing!

In fact, on the way to work (~35 miles) I counted over 12 cars in the ditch with 3 or 4 groupings of cop cars at various points along my travel tending to accidents.

This always happens, though. It never fails. The first snow of the year and Michigan folk seem to go "WHAT IS THIS WHITE STUFF!?" and crash. It's Michigan! All we get is snow and gray skies!

But anyway... man I want to be driving right now!

No Kidding.

A guy can afford a $45K rig along with hundreds/thousands of dollars in mods, you live where it snows all winter and you dont have a 4WD SUV?

Thats nuts.

I'm guessing you can get a 2002-04 Explorer for around $4-5K.

I wish it was bad weather here, I really do! But its a very sunny 68 out today. If it was nasty out I wouldnt be tempted to go for a ride (got almost a 100 miles on her)!

Re: Sigh... Monday! Poor car, I want to drive you!

I was going to take my challenger out today. Went to move the 4wd Durango and a few flurries came down. So I just drove it and left the challenger at home in the garage. East of Cleveland in snow belt they are supposed to get 4-8 inches snow today. They ahd wrecks all over the place this morning. First snow always does them in. How can they forget how drive in snow when they have lived all their life. STUPID People.

There isn't any reason you can't drive the Challenger in the snow. Get 4 winter tires and drive slowly, and you'll be fine.

The biggest problems I see (other than driving too fast) are people following too closely, and trying to stop at the last minute. Start to slow down WAY before you need to.

Some people thing that just because they have all wheel/4-wheel drive that they can drive faster and stop more quickly. Nope.
What all wheel/4-wheel drive does for you is get you up that hill easier.

By the way, rear wheel drive cars are a lot more fun in the snow, especially if you have a true limited slip. Just keep it under control.

Snow is one thing but ice is another story, if the roads are iced up call in sick, no snow tire in the world is going to help.

Re: Sigh... Monday! Poor car, I want to drive you!

WOW those snow crashes are crash... I never see stuff like that... I took the Chally out today. We had freezing rain over night... so I thought well my chally is safe...right? WRONG!!! went out at lunch and she's a brick of ice... and I JUST washed it last night so I warmed her up came back 10 minutes later and she's pretty much thawed... I'm really starting to think I should be driving my neon for the winter... I just don't want to have to go out and start it in minus 40. Theres only room for one car in the Garage... and you can sure as .... believe its not going to the my beat up neon.
